'slim' size toddler jeans/pants (3T)
Comments (16)Wow you guys rock!!! Ok I'm being somewhat lazy on the sewing thing now (yes I can do it but I have to finish this house before we move in the fall so I haven't gotten to it). I figure in the future I'll be able to fix his jeans myself (thanks for the ideas....I was going to search that later LOL) but sheesh, just from this group of posts I found six pairs of jeans :) I bought the Calvins and the Wranglers, and am working on the rest :) Old Navy and Gap are unfortunately too big even cinched up on the last button hole of the adjustable waists. Lisa my husband caught this thread right at the big butt comment...we lost our drinks :oP The man-pries was a good one too LOL We'll start a new fashion :) I have to admit, I hate draw string pants and sweats. I know someday I'll have to give in to his wishes for comfort, but until he whines, I want a more tailored look...they look so much better with his collection of knit golf vests (he'll kill me for telling anyone about that when he's older LOL) I've had great luck at a place called "Once Upon A Child" which sells used baby cloths. I haunt the rack for anything by Polo (they fit skinny kids really well) but as he gets bigger (ok taller) I ssee less and less of them. Ok back to my wine as I shop :) Really thanks all for the fabulous ideas :) You rock!!...See MoreMy skinny little girl
Comments (13)My DD is 8 and probably one of the thinnest girls in her class at school. It's hard to shop for her. Even with the pants with the adjustable waistband, we cinch those up tight as they go. At the same time, she has a big appetite. So while people tell me how thin she is, if they've seen her eat they never ask "Don't you feed her?" LOL. She is a gymnast. So when people see her in short sleeves and shorts, summer clothes, what they notice is how muscular she is. Her practices include conditioning and her coaches talk to the girls about making healthy food choices. So while DD eats several times a day, she eats bananas, yogurt, etc. DD is average height. Some of the girls on her gym team are also shorter than average, so overall very petit. But when they do more sit ups than anyone else in PE as school, no one tells them they are "too skinny" or makes any assumptions about their size! The girls surely know they are small. But they know first that they are strong. Some people have expressed concern about young girls being in gymnastics, that they will feel pressure to by skinny, not eat well. But clearly, we've had exactly the opposite experience! The coaches want the girls to feel strong and healthy and to love their bodies enough to care for them. I would completely ignore the comments of others. Put her in a sport that suits her, that will develop a healthy body image that is about strength and fitness. She is my only DD (my others are boys). At her age, her body image is developing and how that takes shape now will last a lifetime. I cannot say enough about the positive impact I think being involved in a sport she loves is having on her self-esteem and body image. On the occassion that DD is told she's skinny, she will show them her muscles! LOL!...See MoreKnit Pull On Pants? suggestions??
Comments (23)thank you for all of the suggestions- I am taking notes avidly. To clarify I was searching for pull on because even if I have ample room or if they are tight, somehow the closure seems to show through in a sweater and it is not a good look. It's funny as I look at many of the links, most of them do show with bare leg (come on folks it's winter!!! soon to be anyway and socks are absolute) and what really entertains me, is they show with a top tucked in. I get that they are showing the belly part of the pants, but n my wildest dreams I could never wear a knit pant with a tucked in top. I am looking to wear with longer tops and just don't want that belly button sticking out! Appreciate all the suggestions. I had luck last year and the year before at Target but they seem to have changed their merchandising around considerably to I am lost. Old Navy too- I will give them another try especially for jeans....See MoreFashion Advice RE: Women's Pants
Comments (37)I used to practically live in Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans and would buy several pair when Costco had them on sale in Aug. After several abdominal surgeries, jeans are sadly no longer comfortable. I like the soft jersey knit ones from 32 Degrees and some stretchy Liz Claibourne slacks from JC Penney now, I used so sew a LOT of my clothes decades ago when it still made sense to so and became quite good at making slacks that fit nicely. As Lars said, they're really not that hard once you figure out what works for you. i used to love higher waisted fitted slacks with from pleats and cuffs. Very 1950's........and very chic, I thought. I loved Kate Hepburn's style....See MoreNothing Left to Say
