Do you mix annuals and perennials in your beds?

I'm starting a small cutting garden this spring just for personal use (roughly 8ft by 4ft with a path cutting it in half). I have a mix of annuals (zinnia, cosmos, etc) and perennials (black eyed susans, shasta daisies, echinacea) to plant.

Does it make more sense to keep the perennials in one bed, and the annuals in the other? Or mix them up? I can think of arguments in either direction (an annual-only bed would be easier to amend and weed in the spring) (a mixed bed would mean I could provide more space for the perennials and tuck the annuals in where there's space).

Any advice is appreciated!
