Oh my goodness it doesn't even look like the same horse!

Hey Marilyn I saw you mentioned going to Alvin, my Garden Club is going to the Bayouwildlifezoo there Thursday and having lunch at a restaurant. I was wondering if you would be interested in meeting up with us. We are going on a bus trip there. We got a really good group rate.

Val is very fortunate to have that TLC! It's definitely agreeing with him.

He looks great, those ribs are so much better. And Marilyn, he's getting a Kardashian butt. Better him than me, but I know that fullness is more quarter horse like and he's on his way to healthy and strong. Good for you, you do wonders with these animals.

I look at the second picture and think "Poor Baby"...when I look at the first picture, I think "Lucky Boy". Bless you, sweet lady. I just love watching Val's progress!

Raven, what day are you going? Maybe I can meet you at the restaurant. I have a bunch of baby animals that have to be fed every four hours....two baby possums and five baby squirrels, so it is hard for me to be gone for very long.

Oh what a change. Val is looking great. Two baby possums and 5 baby squirrels....I can see how that will keep you busy. I hope you post pictures of your little babies too.

I go to bed, get up in four hours, feed them....forty five minutes....can't go back to sleep then. Finally do....an hour or so later.....time to get up again. And repeat. So I am sleep deprived. I don't usually raise squirrels, but the lady who did, quit because her husband retired and they want to travel. Someone was giving them to an older lady, who had no idea what she was doing and out of 15, 13 died and one is permanently crippled. They may have all died by now. Anyway, I said I'd take them because I couldn't see giving them to her. No one trained her and she had no idea what she was doing. Her daughter is a rehabber and she doesn't know what she is doing either. Some people shouldn't be doing this....that is for sure. And then there is someone like me, who is doing it very reluctantly, but at least I try to do it right.

This Thursday at Kelly's restaurant sometime around 11. I understand how busy you are so I totally understand. I don't want you to miss taking care of babies! They are so lucky to have you.

I don't know very much about horses, but that looks like one handsome boy, Marilyn. And a nice, clean, shiny one too, after his bath. :-) I like his bright white sock. Great work!

Wow, he looks great! Not only has he filled out, but his coat looks much healthier too. How much do you estimate he's gained so far, Marilyn?

I used to work with a woman who was a wildlife rehabber. At any given time, she had fawns, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons and lots of birds. She rehabbed a bald eagle once that had been shot in the wing and put a notice in our local paper for fresh road kill to feed him. One day I came to work and there was a paper bag on my desk. I looked inside and there were a couple of dead squirrels along with a note that they were for the eagle!

I would have a hard time estimating how much he has gained, but I want him to gain until his top line (back) has filled out. I was told at the kill pen that he had lost 100 lb but I believe it was much more. I expected it tho. It is a very stressful place for a horse. Especially for a horse like Val, who was obviously well cared for at one time. Horses are like any animal...they are used to their home and they are scared and bewildered by such a drastic change. He was covered in bites from the other horses. He is very timid and totally nonaggressive. No wonder he lost so much weight. I am surprised he doesn't have ulcers. Horses get ulcers from stress, just like people. He is absolutely as sweet as he can be. I am so happy to have him.

I used to pick up road kill to feed an alligator here. Squirrels were his favorite. Nice soft bodies.

I was so upset. A 17 yr old boy killed a bald eagle that had nested in a certain spot in Houston for several years. They declined to prosecute him, due to his age. I think they should have.

Oh Marilyn I am furious about that stupid kid killing that beautiful huge eagle. They found the nest with little babies in it they are trying to save the babies. 17 yr old boy is most definitely old enough to know exactly what he was doing and should have some punishment to go with the behavior.

That kid should go to jail. That's horrible. >>>Val looks beautiful.
