Oceania or Neptune - Freestanding Tub Opinions

Looking to purchase our first freestanding tub. Does anyone have first-hand experience with Oceania and/or Neptune brands (Canadian)? How do they compare to each other, what U.S. manufacturers would be similar quality acrylic/customer service? Specifically interested in the following three models, would love some user reviews:

Oceania Milano Tub MI67

Neptune Florence Tub 3266

Neptune Malaga Tub 3266

I know nothing of the brands and they look beautiful but the first one has a water depth of only 13 inches! The others are only 14.5 inch deep as well. It is a tall climb to only get such a shallow bath...I have a very old tub and before this house had a claw foot and both held well over 16 inches of water which is a true soaker....are there deeper water level tubs out there? It makes a world of difference in a tub.

I don't have a free standing tub but I have a Neptune Wind tub. We have only had it for about 8 months but it seemed decent for our installers to install and has been fine. I have heard their acrylic is a better quality than some, but I just read that somewhere when I was checking reviews and info on tubs. I have nothing to back that up. I did e-mail Neptune with several questions and was impressed that they responded very quickly and actually answered my questions.

So I finally got my Kohler Greek tub installed. Sat in it today for the first time. Totally awesome! Davidro1--you may remember that I posted about this a while back. I ended up doing a step to cut the visual imposition of such a deep tub. It looks fabulous and the step does help since I have a grab bar. Anyone who doesn't have a ton of room but wants a great soak--I recommend this tub heartily!

The Purist line is very pretty indeed! I understand your dilemma, but surely you have more than just the one other choice (the AS faucet)? I've never had a hand shower till two years ago when we remodeled. I have a Bain Ultra tub and a Jado faucet set with handheld. OMGosh! How did I live this long without a handheld :) It's great for ALL the reasons above but it also comes in handy as theapy for sore shoulders or upper back (where my air tub doesn't reach). I'm still finding new uses for it. I promise, you won't be disappointed or feel like you made a wrong decision :) Monica

Can you recommend a comfy alcove tub?

I really like my Kohler Mariposa tub. I have the drop in version but it also comes as an alcove tub. My tub is a whirlpool but it comes as just a soaking tub too. The back of the tub has a slight slant and it has built in arm rests. The tub comes in 60", 65" and 72" lengths. I am 5'5" and find that the 65" tub is the perfect length. You can lay back and be almost fully reclined and submerged at the same time. The tub is 36 inches wide though so you have to make sure your alcove is deep enough. If your alcove isn't that deep, the Kohler Archer tub is another good option. My DD has that one and likes that is quite deep. If you look at the tubs on the Kohler website be aware that the prices they show are higher than actual retail prices at most vendors.

Moral of the story here is everyone has different wants. Back in the 2000's all I would see are jetted drop-in tubs, so I perceived those to be "the best that rich people bought" lol. Gotta take a step back and figure out your personal wants and how you'll realistically use I agree for mobility, drop-in is much easier to use Heat retention, I'm still voting for cast iron. I've owned insulated fiberglass with jets, used just about everything in between, then own a freestanding cast iron now. Realistically, you draw a bath then sit in it for maybe half an hour. I've seen fiberglass/acrylic units with heat pads in them (...why?) to combat this, or you do what everyone has done for hundreds of years and turn the hot valve on low. My last fiberglass tub, the tub would feel a hair colder than the water as it cooled down at the end. My current iron tub doesn't do that, seems to maintain temp longer, but again metal=conduction. Could think resale, or maybe you'll barely ever use it so it's more for looks. Can't go wrong if you do the right thing for you

roarah: I agree about immersion importance, but where are you seeing those depths? specs show 16 1/8" to overflow for Oceania, 15 1/4" and 14 1/2" for Neptunes. Unless I'm reading that wrong.

Looks like you quoted the Neptune Florence 3260 specs instead of Neptune 3266 (bigger version). But either way, looks like I should check what the difference is between "maxi comfort" depth and the"immersion" depth quoted in their tech specs download. Oceania looks deeper than Neptune based on tech drawing.
