What Are You Doing Today?
Comments (18)Washing clothes. Got up too early this morning after staying up late keeping tabs on the election results. Went to bed when it was obvious who was going to win. Got up for an early doctor's appointment. My foot/ankle/leg has been killing me for 8 days now. Went hiking at Natural Bridge last week. The lift that takes you up on the mountain was closed for the season, so we walked 3 miles up the mountain and came down the shorter route, 1.25, which was straight down. I twisted my ankle a couple times. Lot of hard rock/rock stairway going down. I'm short so it was really scary trying to jump down those huge steps. Slid down most of them on my butt because I was afraid of breaking something. But did jump down some of them and my ankle kind of gave out a couple times and twisted. Nothing broken, but the doctor thinks I tore a ligament. MRI next week and possible surgery depending on how bad it is. They gave me an ankle brace. No light duty, thank goodness, we are already short at work and about to get shorter! Came home and couldn't stay awake, took a three hour or so nap. Sipping decaf coffee and eating the last of the banana nut muffins I made Sunday....See MoreWhat Are You Doing Today?
Comments (18)Not much. No need to cook or bake this year, well I could have made cut-outs but decided not to. Neighbors brought some plus candies, a jar of homemade tortellini soup(! my supper tonight), homemade spag.sauce with a bag of red/green striped tortellini, trail bologna, cheese from another neighbor. Plus I have my little mince meat pies. Too many sweets I really don't need right now. The only running I did today was to Hallmark for another Balsam/Cedar Yankee candle - the large jar size. Love it. My other one is burning very low and getting smoky. Then to a market for some breakfast sausages which they were still out of. Bummer. Then home. The traffic was a nightmare! It was the busiest I've ever seen on a Friday before Christmas. Granted this was at the North End of the city where Walmart and all the big box stores and restaurants are. If not for kind drivers waving me in, I would probably be still sitting there waiting to get into the lane of traffic. I was so happy to see my country roads again....See MoreWhat Are You Doing Today?
Comments (22)I am happy. Went and talked to the owner of a little mom and pop cafe I go to. He gets a lot of regular trade on weekends. I explained my dilemma, Said I didn't want to ruffle feathers but wanted to keep it simple and not have to plan a menu etc. We compromised on the time so things would be a bit slower. Everyone can order whatever they want from the full menu. I offered to figure in the money each person would owe at the end of the meal but he said they could easily split the check with the system they have in place. Yay! I am limiting the number of attendees to what they can handle. The number is just a few people under the maximum we normally get anyway. I stated it clearly on the announcement so now we will see what happens. Came home, typed up the details and sent it out. Done....See MoreWhat are you doing today?
Comments (36)I finished edging the hedge border this morning that I began on Friday. One down, two to go. Then I hopped on the mower and mowed everything, finishing up at 3pm. The grass was high and rain is expected again either over night or tomorrow morning. I love my Toro Zero Turn mower but it's not the greatest on damp grass, makes skid marks, doesn't cut as well. Then I like to use the self-propelled Lawn Boy mower with the grass catcher bag around the garden area. Lots of walking, stopping to empty the bag, walking, stopping to empty the bag, etc. Needless to say my feet and back are achy tonight. Took two Bayer Back and Body earlier. Also my skin feels warm - too much sun today. One of the outside cats was AWOL for 8:30p supper, showed up a little while ago at 10pm. so took him outside and around to the cellar in the dark. Saw my first lightning bug of the season!...See MoreDakota
