Who makes the best jacuzzi type tub?

Preferably 60", but may be able to go a little larger if necessary. Who's got the best jets?

Are they even still being made? I thought they had fallen out of favor.

We've had a Kohler for 15+ years and it still works great. They actually circulate the water. Got an American Standard for a different bathroom few years ago because it was much cheaper, and it's OK not great not nearly as powerful. My folks had a Pearl (is that still a brand?) and it was very good as well - very reliable and good circulation. One thing we do like about the American Std is it's deep. It pretty much has to be that if you ever want to get the jets on your upper back / shoulders. Would make it hard to bathe small children though so it depends on your family / needs.

2 years ago we bought a hot tub for outside and now we never use either of the tubs. I think if I were going to completely redo a bathroom today I would opt for a big fancy shower and forgo the tub altogether.

Before we got the hot tub, the Kohler one was nice for when anyone had a muscle injury.

Hi threeapples--You're getting so close to finishing, I bet you can't wait!! On the topic of the tub and faucet placement, yes it's true that putting the faucet centered on the long side will make it difficult to get in and out of the tub. As you're going to be in this house for a good long time, and maneuverability decreases as we age I would definitely recommend placing it elsewhere. If you place it centered on the short end, it will be difficult to have 2 people in the bath at once as one would likely be hitting the back of their head on the spout (I know I'd be planning for 2 people in there at one time with a gorgeous tub like that!) Placing it on the angle is your best bet IMO--out of the way for entry and exit, allows 2 person bathing and when placed on the near side, allows easy access to the controls from outside the tub for easier filling. I'm curious as well..we want jacuzzi or whirlpool tub in and want to place shower beside it...but now are curious if we can because of any required clearances...is there info anywhere that discusses the basic area needed in a bath remodel to allow for a typical install, whether it be a corner tub or a regular tub? This would in turn tell us about the tub deck we should allow. Thanks...and thanks for this thread!

Changing a roman faucet out over jacuzzi tub-need help

If the proper faucet for this type of installation was installed originally the faucet can be serviced and the trim can be upgraded from above the finished surface. For instance, if it is a kohler roman tub filler faucet with polished brass spout, escutcheons and handles the faucet can be serviced with new stems or cartridges and new trim with a different finish. This can all be accomplished with out having to replace the rough valve body which is below the finished surface. you have to find out the manufacturer and model of the faucet. some roman tub filler faucets have to be accessible from below the finished surface for servicing. It is common for the original installer not to advise the customer whether the faucet must be accessible or not.

I agree with qdog, the size of home I'm referring to has a large master suite, in a smaller bathroom you'd have to certainly make a decision as to what you could fit into a small bath, but in my size and price range it's possible to have it all and that's what buyers in my area want, whether a soaker tub or jacuzzi is personal preference, but definitely large tub and seperate large shower are the norm in my area and price range. Disney, this is my third home I've purchased with separate large tub (2 were jacuzzi's, one a soaker) and I'm not in a starter home. It just happens to fit my lifestyle, I'm a bath kinda girl.

My wife has some chronic issues and she's the one who wants it. She often sits in the shower, so I do have a nice handheld, but she really wants a tub. Everything except the main showerhead (speakman) is Kohler, so that would work well.
