Brown runoff water after watering houseplants
Comments (3)Hisees, There could be several reasons for the brown stuff. My first thought (from the well water) is minerals. If you're plants are doing fine, I wouldn't think it would be caused by mold or root rot, especially if they don't smell funky. What you are doing when you water is the perfect remedy for anything that's building up in the soil. When you water thoroughly and let the water run freely out of the bottom, you're leaching out the deposits. Too much/many minerals is no good for your plants, either. To test the theory, you could always try watering with rainwater or bottled. If you don't see any improvement after a couple of thorough waterings, I'm wrong and it's not your water LOL...See MoreNo water to Dishwasher after turning off main water supply
Comments (8)Get rid of the floodsafe hose they are junk! They shut off regularly without valid reason. The hose they are protecting is likely to never break and they have a weak joint just prior to the floodsafe that if highly likely to failand there is no protection there....See MoreNo Water in Shower after shutting Cold water valve of Water heater
Comments (1)Some valve bodies have an auto shut off feature which is designed to prevent scalding. If one side has no pressure, both sides are shut off inside the valve body. Or you dislodged some huge chunk of rust and it made its way to the shower valve. I can't see from here. Try dissembling the shower valve and flushing it out....See MoreWhen you repot a new AV, do you water the soil or water after potting
Comments (6)Thank you, Irina! I am happy to have found this board, as it seems I have found AV experts here! I have enjoyed reading other posts for info and all your good advice to others too. My husband and I just bought our very first home last August, so this has opened up the world of plants and gardening! I have always felt I couldn't work with plants, that I would kill them all, but so far I have even got begonias going strong. I realized I just need to pay attention and follow directions! :) In the past, I think I killed plants because I wasn't attentive to their individual needs. Really excited about getting this violet going. I bought soil and perlite at home depot today, but both have miracle grow. I was worried about how to deal with that as far as knowing when to start giving AV food. I considered going to the nursery tomorrow to find mix and perlite w/o additives. If I do use the miracle grow, your advice to wait a few months is perfect. I will update with pictures! :) --la...See More- 7 years ago
