Comments (6)Last year I ordered Joy Creek. I emailed this spring asking about their replacement policy because my John Warren showed no signs of life after the vines died off a few weeks after I planted it. They did not even respond to my email. I ended up digging up John Warren and the roots were healthy and within a few weeks it had healthy foliage. I went ahead bought 4 more clematis from them this spring and two of them died off within a few weeks. The two clems are: Markham's Pink and Louise Rowe. I think I will try to contact them about this last order....See MorePurchased Eutin from Joy Creek Nursery
Comments (5)Love all the Eutins. It was the first rose I ever grew (actually a hedge-row of 13 eutins) starting way back when--maybe 1968. And every place I've moved, I've planted more eutins. In my current garden (about 25 years old), I still grow three eutins. It's not a spectacular rose, but such a nice one--showy, pretty, attractive, floriferous, dependable, etc. Has a bit of hybrid musk somewhere in its background--you can kinda tell by the way it blooms. That's probably why it manages to bloom well even in partial shade. But it would do even better in lots more sunshine. People who aren't familiar with it always ask if it is a Knock-Out. NO. But I admit it does somewhat resemble one--but is a prettier bush and the blooms, while small, are rounder, fuller, and a somewhat more appealing shade of red. To my way of thinking, Knock-Out is the cheap big box store rose; Eutin is the is the more cultured and polished version of that type of rose--one you'd have to go to a "designer" nursery to get. You know: cheap vs quality. Ok--so I'm an elitest when it comes to my Eutins. That's life! : ) My Eutins (zone 6) have a few BS problems in between bloom cycles, but no major problems. You should really like your new rose--a winner! Kate...See MoreHave you bought from a reputable online tree nurseries?
Comments (13)I would recommend Fedco, or Cummins Nursery if you're interested in fruit trees. They're both in New England so your purchases will have a better chance of survival and the shipping should be less. Both sell trees and also rootstocks and scions to give you an opportunity to do your own grafts. I've bought from both. Fedco in their catalog recommends semi full trees for the far north. They seem to indicate in their catalog that trees will not produce the same growth in the far north. Your zone 6b makes me guess your near the coast, so that may not apply. If you're interested in trees other than fruit I'd suggest you check out Musser's Forest in North Central Pennsylvania. They sell in large quantities for seedlings. For instance for a 5 rate they charge $2.70 each for Sugar Maple. For a 300 rate they charge $0.40 each....See Moresummersrhythm_z6a
