Watering Question re Citrus Home Alone During My Vacation
Comments (5)Thanks, guys, for all your information and compliments. The calamondin in the photo above is from Four Winds. I have had this for about five years now. I decided to prune it for the first time this year before I brought it inside for the winter months. It's loaded with fruit that hopefully will mature in the next few months. Jerry...See MoreDo you leave your cat home alone?
Comments (11)No. We no longer have at cat (so pay a fortune for boarding our dog with a fabulous home dog boarder - who is also a vet tech which is a relief of course and she is also bonded and insured). When we had our cat we boarded him with the vet - that cost almost as much as the dog - but the cat was elderly. Years ago we left a cat for 3 days with someone coming in to feed her - problem was, she thought she was a dog - actually she was more dog-like than our dog of the time - who came with us - and she was ballistic when we got home. Perhaps every second day would work. Re snow shovelling - khaska_kat - if the person charges $10 an hour for shovelling and lives in my area of Toronto - please refer me! We can't get any kids here to shovel - they are too busy tweeting etc. - while their grandfathers are out having heart attacks shovelling....See MoreHome Alone Emergency: Hot Water Heater
Comments (2)Wait a minute. Why are you ordering a water heater for your parents? What size heater do you have now? What hot water needs do they have? No sense having a bigger heater if it's just two people and nobody takes a big tub. But if they frequently complain of being out of hot water, then now is the time to get it fixed. Make sure the water heater is unplugged, and shut the water supply going into it off, and drain it. if it's leaking and you leave it online you may wake up with a flooded basement. And if you shut the water off and don't shut the power off, it's dangerous. Most importantly: call your parents!...See MoreHow Many Will Be Home Alone For Thanksgiving?
Comments (37)This is my 3rd Thanksgiving alone. I went from cooking for 20+ people for 20 years to nothing after my divorce. While I was married all of my family passed away except my son who works today and my father who could give 2 you know whats. So even after 3 years I am so lost on Thanksgiving. Where for the week before and day of I was sooooo busy preparing and cooking to nothing. I wake up and realize I have not a darn thing to do today and it is just like every single other day. Seems so odd back then I prayed for someone to take over one Thanksgiving because I was exhausted from doing it every year now to I wish I had it to do again. Silly I know. Christmas is the exact same way for me. I used to host Christmas Eve open house with a Ham dinner and all the fixings, clean up that night and get up Christmas morning do the whole Christmas Dinner thing now again nothing. So Christmas I go to an amusement park and ride rollercoasters all day with my son and that is our new tradition,...See More- 9 years ago
