First frost last night!
Comments (3)It's not ideal but it's what I have to work with. I have two children ages 1 and 3. The only other South facing window is in the living room where they have access. So, until they get a bit older and understand not to touch, mess with or put my plants in their mouths, this will have to suffice. My husband wasn't happy about my plants taking over the office at first but I assured him that I wouldn't take up too much space and if he didn't let me bring them in they would die and we would have to spend $$ to get more. So, it saves him money HAHAHAHA. I think I've started to convert him though. When I've learned any interesting fact about one of my plants I always tell him and he actually told me last night he's 'kinda getting interested more'. HAHAHA...See MoreFirst frost in Apopka last night
Comments (4)YUM Sylvia! Looks delish, as all your dishes do. We just moved to Winter Springs from Lake Placid and thought it would be colder up here, since we're now a couple hours north-er. But this morning we drove back to LP to move some more stuff, and I was surprised at all the plants that got frost-bitten. My poor bananas! I purposely left them and took more tender plants first, thinking they'd be warmer "down south". But we brought them with us this trip, so I hope they'll not croak. Along with the hibiscus plants and the purple firespikes and bouganvilleas. Guess I should've listened when hubby warned me about making more tropical babies! (Yeah - that'll happen...)...See MoreWhoa! We sold our old Vette last night!
Comments (7)We listed the car at $8995 and we sold it for $7900. It has 95K miles on it and we were the second owners. It was the somewhat less desirable color combination - white w/ tan interior. There were a few problems: leak in t-tops or windshield, don't know which, so we didn't take it out in the rain! The a/c didn't work, probably needed to recharged, but sold the car as is, just in case. Cosmetically, the paint was kind of bubbled on one 5" section of the hood and seemed to be peeling off on part of the rear spoiler. Of course, we could have sold it for too little, and I never thought my husband would go for the first "low ball" offer, but he did and the deed is done. It's just a bit ironic that I am feeling a bit disappointed when "I got what I wanted" and the car is gone. And yes, hubby has the 50th anniversary edition convertible, so he is not sad at all!...See MoreGuess who I had dinner with last night!
Comments (29)Well, here I am! Late to this party, as I got home last night. First things being first, we cleared out the dog crate, food and treats by packing them up and walking them over to different neighbors who knew Luna. (She had a lot of friends in the neighborhood.) Delivering news like this is hard, but right this minute I think the hardest is having such a quiet house. Packing up her favorite toys choked me up, but it's done. Working my way backwards and starting with OKC, I regret we didn't get to meet David or Sally, but I'm anticipating there will be another opportunity. Having the extra time allowed us to blow on so I could visit my mother. We drove 4,603 miles in three weeks, so you might say it was a whirlwind (tornadic in places), and we were ready to get home. Meeting Donna and her friend Debbie was fun. We met for breakfast in Albuquerque and I really enjoyed it. It's so nice to have the CF in common, and there were no awkward moments in the conversation. In fact, I'm finding it's so easy to talk to the CF in person, it's kind of hard to leave! I enjoyed every moment, and hope that with Donna, David and Sally, we have an opportunity to meet again. I feel pretty certain we'll see Karen (and Tom) somewhere at some point! (I think it must be easy to form a certain bond with the first people you meet.) I've tried for five GT's, and have managed two so far...The best thing is my New Year's resolution of meeting some of you is up and running! I'm loving it and at this point have TWO GT's under my belt and COUNTING. Thank you for your generosity in wanting to meet; it's so nice to feel a part of the CF in real life. I'll upload a few pictures when I can......See MoreUser
