repot now or wait until spring? Meyer lemon - gnats - root bound

Hi,

I have a Meyer lemon tree, received early Jan. It has a couple of soil gnats, and a few leaves are dropping. I have read that gnats arrive when the soil is too wet so I am keeping it dryer.

It is in a south facing sliding glass door that stays shut for the winter. I am not fertilizing yet as it looks like it has plenty of slow release fertilizer from the nursery.

The roots are at the sides of the pot. Should I repot now (into a better fast draining mix), or wait until warmer weather? New soil (511) might rid the plant of the gnats.

Thank you for your time.
