help me with these bathroom paint colors and finishes (x-post)
Comments (2)Ppbenn, thanks for the response. Paint is so funny. I look at it and look at it...on the wall...on my painted boards...day and night. I am so sympathetic towards you for having painted all of those times in your kitchen, but I can understand the need for color perfection. The soapstone sink will be new. I got the idea to make it myself after I fashioned my own soapstone counters (with the help of my DH for the heavy lifting and strategic planning). NOBODY wanted to help me so we were on our own. I loved working on the stuff so I will make my own sink for the bathroom. I think I am a natural sculptor. After I get back from a retreat at the end of April I will start on this remodel and the sink build. The carpenter will build my sink cabinet sort of like I've drawn. I want the sink to function as a nice bathroom sink and a laundry sink. This room is a hard working room in our home. Hope it all works out. The faucet will be a Hansgrohe wall mount Montreux, in chrome. The spout actually adjust from 6-8" from the wall, which is perfect for me since I will be building my own sink and lord knows where the drain will end up :) Initially I wanted to go with brushed nickel for the warm look, but I got a good deal on the bath filler in chrome, so chrome it was. I am happy with this cause I like the shine. Here is the faucet for the sink:...See MoreX post - need paint color help please!!!
Comments (28)So sorry I never updated this thread (such a bad habit to not conclude threads in case they pop up in future searches). I posted the tile info in another thread, but i should post it here too. The 'marble' tile is porcelain and is called Exedra Calacutta. 18 x 18 on the floor, 9 x 18 on the walls. The feature tile is Danse Lucido Vetromarmi collection water jet tile with glass and calcutta marble. The subways and shower floor 1 x 1s are Pavarotti Pearl. All tile is from Artistic Tile. BlackChamois the Gray Owl didn't work at all. All the ones I thought would be great just didn't look the same in the space. Enduring, we LOVE Smokey Taupe. It's our whole kitchen and library area paint. I just didn't like how it was pulling out the strong yellows in the tile. Maybe because the tile is porcelain and I felt it made it look more like porcelain and less like marble? In the end we stuck with Moonshine. It ended up settling in much less blue and much more green. I must have caught it in very specific light for it to look that blue. Paint is so tricky! Anyway, here is a link to the updated thread so I don't have two running at once on the same topic. Comments (0)We are considering using Frostine for our walls (instead of using BM White 01 again) in the kitchen/LR/DR....; it is the "whitest" Affinity white. If you've used it, how does it "read" (white? off?)? It appears to be identical in intensity (brightness) to the 01, but warmer, which I might want (01 is a bit more stark white perhaps). I love my white walls, but since we're re-painting, thought I'd look at another white or two to see if I like either of them any better. The other color in contention is Chantilly Lace. The sample patches I painted appear much lighter/brighter in intensity than the other two whites; is it too much so when the entire room is painted with it (e.g. blindingly white)? Please don't suggest any other whites. I know everyone has his/her faves, but I've narrowed my choices deliberately (and need to decide soon!). Note: whichever white we choose, we will be using Aura paint in a matte finish on the walls and ceilings, and the same color in the Aura satin finish for the base moldings. All doors and door jambs are a light-stained oak. Thanks!...See Moregarage paint colors (X-post from Paint)
Comments (1)I'd do it the body color. Also check the home decorating forum--they decorate (and give paint advice) outside too! It's going to look great!...See MoreBoopadaboo
