figured out why rose canes broke
Comments (5)Jim - I would say that yes, almost all of them did. The ones that didn't have spindly canes and no buds yet. BUT - the ones that did have some canes broken are blooming very nicely now - it's just that they could have had even more blooms. Abe Darby has about 25 buds and 2 bloomso open. So I am getting buds/blooms. It's just frustrating when the canes break off at the base and I'm holding this long cane with about 5 buds on it. I have so much to learn still. :) Yeah Seil - I think that is the culprit. Live and learn and learn some more. LOL Carol...See MoreI Think I Figured how Steam works in the washer
Comments (3)Some new machines have it in the washers now too. I'm helping a friend with research and both Samsung and LG have it in the washer on some models. Both say it can help produce superior cleaning results. "Samsung's deep steam washers save time, energy and money. Deep steam cleaning boosts washer performance by loosening dirt without pretreating." "SteamWash System: This revolutionary washing system uses LG's TrueSteam generator to boost cleaning performance and energy efficiency." I believe some LG's use the steam function for their Allergiene cycle as well. Less hard on fabrics than sanitary cycles. I love my Miele but every time I read about these Samsung's/LG's I want one too. Here is a link that might be useful: Samsung - deep steam washer...See MoreI think I finally figured it out!
Comments (16)Somehow I missed this thread. Boy, can I empathize! My house is a converted church and we have 4 (FOUR) closets in 3000 sf. 3 are the size of small coat closets, one is a bit larger. And, there is only a small galley kitchen, no pantry. Yes, this does make it hard to organize!!! Though this house is roughly 3X the size of our old one, there is less than half the storage space. There is only so much stuff you can get rid of! Of course, we spent all our $$ on the house, so remodeling is not an option in the near future. I put cabinets over the toilets - big enough for hand towels and washcloths and shampoo, etc. I keep the rest of the linens under the bed (in rolling drawers.) I still have to keep the vacuum cleaner behind the sofa (and my guitar underneath)! We have a large laundry room and I'm trying to figure out how to make better use of that space. What is frustrating is that there is space that we don't really use, but I'm not clever at trying to convert this space myself. The house is all windows, too, so that really cuts down on available wall space; the third floor is an attic conversion - very steep walls and not conducive to practical storage. If I had a nickel for every time I've banged my head up there! I did buy a couple of big melamine cabinets (garage quality) to store stuff in, and that has helped a little. Glad to know that I'm not the only one with this problem! I spend a lot of time on the home decorating forum and just drool over those new houses with big pantries and huge walk-ins. Good luck and if I come up with any brilliant ideas you'll be the first to know!...See MoreI think I figured out the mouse history and happenings
Comments (8)We had lots of trouble with mice getting in vehicles when we lived on a farm, so did my mom and dad and in vehicles we drove every day of the world. It was worse in the winter.... and we did not keep any type of food in our vehicles....once we were going to town in my Cadillac and it just wouldn't run, step on the gas and it would just bog down. We made it to Walmart, pulled in and my husband took the top of the air filter off and the whole compartment was just stuffed with sunflower seeds from the bird feeders. My dad used to find dog food stuffed different places in his truck, along with chewed wires, they can do a lot of damage to a vehicle....See Moremarilyn_c
