Mailing costs for Bubble Envelopes (BE)
Comments (52)well i lied i still have more rant! i did this and my envelopes were returned. only they held them for a week! and then returned it with a note saying this was too thick for a "flat/large envelope" and had to be a parcel price. ! the other weird thing, in some kind of not funny irony, was i also got some seeds i bought, they were in a small thin bubbly, and at "flats/large envelope" postage rate. 1.19 in postage, made it perfectly fine ( as it is the correct, CORRECT postage)...and my envelope which looked almost the same...with the note saying not enough postage even though theres three stamps. so i went over with the printed out copy of the size requirements for "flats/large envelopes". and she tried again to say anything over 1/4 inch is a parcel, and i said nooooooooo...its 3/4 inch and it says right here, and that they have been overcharging me for quite a long time. she said we havent been overcharging! and i said yes...this is what i usually mail..."flats/large envelopes" and they are at these prices....and even though these are IN FACT flats/ large envelopes...you always charge me for parcels. and pointed out that if i mailed from the coast or a nearby ish town it would be that rate. i shouldve brought in the other envelope...to show her...but i didnt realize that until later. argh. well actually they did eventually agree to mail it. but said well if someone turns it around and returns it for not enough postage its not our fault. i told them i have to weigh ity at home and put the correct postage oin it, as that seems to be the only way not to overcharged. and sometimes even have to factor in how they overcharge me if i want it to make sure it gets there...but thats not fair because if i was somewhere else at a post office they would charge me the correct amount and i wouldnt have to pay more than i am supposed to... i sort of wished i had brought up how they say theres been not enough postage on some stuff where other people sent it to me...when in fact it was correct postage, but not their (distorted) idea of what "correct" postage is... but of course i didnt...i suppose i just have to be happy enough that i finally made some headway and now when they see my envelopes they maybe wont return them. but the person waiting for my side of the trade had to wait an extra week...before they even sent it back to me!...See MoreBubbling Tuna!
Comments (19)I raw pack my tuna every year too (per WSU and Oregon State edu), and even without adding oil or water, the jars are 1/2 to 2/3s full of oil/liquid when they come out of the canner anyway :) I meticulously remove anything dark or resembling dark. The fish has a stronger smell than commercially canned tuna before draining opened jars, but I don't find the taste strong - or I wouldn't be going to the trouble to can it. Many years ago, my MIL used to take fish to a self help cannery, bake and cut, pack the cans, top with olive oil, leave the rest to the cannery to finish and return to her. IMO, it was a pretty Ho-Hum product, not significantly different that what can be purchased. It wasn't until I tasted raw packed tuna that I began doing my own, a couple of decades ago. There are about 55#s of jar ready trimmed and individually wrapped loins in my freezer right now, waiting for the right weekend :) (The day I picked it up, we were just coming to the end of 49 days of guests from Europe, there was not a foreseeable good canning day.)...See MoreWANTED: postage for bubble mailers
Comments (20)that sucks! and then theres weird feelings potentially between people because they may feel a bit cheated, even tho you actually did put the correct postage on it! so frustrating! i have also gotten those. thats about when i figured this was all gone too far, got a little mad at myself for not standing up for myself better at first, and going along with their overcharging....and when i got more serious about making sure i kept arguing it...i got one that was obviously paid at the post office, correct postage amount in their official stamp...and they wouldnt let me have it till i paid to bring it up to the distorted idea of "all bubblies are parcels" postage amount.and i AGAIN told them they were incorrect, it already had the proper postage on it, and they had been overcharging me for more than a year, as i had told them many times. i mean i tried to argue it at the very first, and every time they overcharged. but theres only so far i would go, i do believe in being respectful to people and being polite to people in service jobs. and it would get into this "no it isnt" "yes it is" back and forth...which is just ridiculous. and ultimately i couldnt leave without paying whatever amount they demanded. then when i decided to get all the rules printed out and do my own postage in stamps with my own scale, they started returning my envelopes, with notes saying this isnt enough postage....then i had to go in there three times with the correct postage prices and everything i printed out from the website.... thats when they finally, annoying and without being very respectful to me....agreed to forward the mail i put in the box with my own postage...but saying "dont come crying to me when it is returned for postage due"...not even being willing to acknowledge it even after showing them all the printed out material from the official mail manual. and none that i have sent out with proper postage have had any problems...so possibly they will notice that and realize they were wrong the entire time. but at least...i have saved myself a lot of money from now on... but theres the still the weird...do i put proper postage on it or other peoples incorrect idea of proper postage...just to make sure no one on the other side gets the dreaded postage due...because of this mistake, intentional or otherwise... right now i am doing the correct postage...and hoping for the best...so far it is fine......See MoreSad Debbie, weird bubbles, and tall PVN
Comments (6)Thanks Margueite, it is pretty chunky huh? Andy, thanks for your input. I water about once a week and they get rain water whenever. The spaces on the Debbie are from some birds that kept trying to nest on my balcony. A dove nearly flew into my head this afternoon! I rearranged my balcony and put out my flag. I heard birds don't like movement so maybe that'll keep them away. They are both getting full sun for several hours a day. Direct sun for at least 5 hours per day. From noonish to 6ish. I beheaded the topsy turvy a few months ago. I'm getting frustrated with the dang thing. It keeps growing tall and dropping the bottom leaves, but it's not etoliated. It grows very compact. Anyone have success with these?...See MoreWJ [Singapore]
