Haiku Anyone?

last modified: 9 years ago

I select a picture I've taken and then write a haiku for my christmas card every year. I just came across the paper where I wrote a bunch of them as possibilities for this year's card. I enjoy doing it.

This was the picture:

And here are some of the haikus:

To walk on water

The deer pause to wonder why

Only in winter

-----

The white snow deep blue

The shadow of cold is cast

In winter’s twilight

-------

Leaving footprints on

The snow covered pond so cold

Silently they pass

-----

Slip by in silence

In winter’s twilight of blue

Only footprints left

-----

If you're not familiar with haiku, it's a very simple poem form...3 lines... the 1st and 3rd lines are 5 syllables long, the 2nd line is 7 syllables long. No rhyming necessary. Usually they are about nature and such, but then they can also be humorous.

I didn't know if anyone else wanted to write a haiku for this picture or one of their own. So I thought I'd ask. We could perhaps write haikus for other's photos too.
