Rose of Sharon transplanted in winter

I am in Zone 7a/Norther Virginia. A friend dug out his 6 feet tall Rose of Sharon after it had gone dormant past fall and offered me to take it. The plant was left out in shade with its bare rootball on the ground. It stayed like that for 6 to 8 weeks until I could empty a large container to plant it. While it was left out, we had freezing temperatures and there was some ice accumulation around the roots. When I planted it, the temperature was in the low 30's, so I did not water it the way I would water a new plant. I shook the container and lightly pressed the soil to remove air pockets.

What are the chances that the plant will survive? I know I could have done a better job with this plant and I feel bad for ignoring it for so long, but I find it impossible to work outside in winter.

Thanks.
