Congrats to you both, I just LOVE serpens flowers, have a small rooted cuttings of Mathilde and love the leaves, I just wish Mathilde flowers were closer to the Serpens. Seems a lot easier for me in(Fl) to grow the Mathilde than Serpens,not as finicky...but the blooms are so worth it! Comments (8)Yeah, you are correct, Monica. It is a marketing ploy! That being said, there are many cv. Krimson Princesses (aka Rubra) that are superior in quality. It just depends on the health of the mother plant and what kind of growth the mother plant wants to make. I could, for example, make a gorgeous specimen of my Krimson Queen, by cutting the best growth out and rooting it in a different pot. Of course, there are so many carnosa X carnosa crosses AND carnosa X pubicalyx crosses in circulation, that it is next to impossible to narrow it down to a specific cultuvar. Comments (1)It is a carnosa and it will do just fine in that West window! The leaves will lighten, but more light does encourage blooming (however, carnosa is one of those that likes to take it's sweet time to bloom...it could take a couple of years)....See MoreMrBlubs
