Scion Wood Exchanges? Looking for Pearl Plum

I did a google search, and found a few scion wood exchanges, but not what I was looking for. Anyone have a good exchange site to refer?

My primary target is a pearl plum. I had a young tree once, but the 80lb puppy dug it up. Looking to get that variety (and others) again, but want to graft it onto a rootstock not offered by the one nursery I see offering Pearl (which nursery won't sell scion wood or do a graft onto rootstock other than myrobalan).

I don't have much in the way to offer for exchange. Shiro, NY9, Stanley, and an amazing white peach the variety name I'll have to look up on my notes, bing and black tartarian (pretty sure all those are off patent - did a search - someone please correct me if wrong), I think most everything else I have is still under patent.

Sometimes you have no choice but to buy the whole bare root tree, cut scions from it and then plant the unwanted tree around the neighborhood somewhere (edge of a park, abandoned field, along a farmers windbreak, ect). Expensive way to get scions but sometimes it is the only option. You get scions to graft on the rootstock of your choice with a back-up tree growing somewhere else to share fruit with wildlife and neighbors.

alb, Raintree sells Golden Transparent Gage, Cambridge Gage, and Bavays Green Gage, all of which are not the original Green Gage. As I mentioned above, Golden Transparent Gage is a child of Transparent Gage aka Reine Claude Diaphane which is a child of Green Gage. They are not selling Reine Claude Doree which is what the French call Green Gage today. The naming is very confusing to say the least. Note that just because it is not the original doesn't mean it is not the best. Some California growers consider Bavays better than the original (but the French generally do not). Plums of New York considers Transparent Gage, the parent of Golden Transparent Gage, to be better than the original Green Gage, giving it a rating of Very Good to Best and rating the original "Very Good". My Golden Transparent Gage from Raintree has fruited and it is an excellent plum! Also the situation has gotten so messed up over the years because many mis-named Gage plums have been sold. Scott

According to the U of Sask, if the asian hybrids are crossed with the american/canadian native plum (prunus nigra or americana), then the best pollinator is the native plum. They went into such detail as they mentioned that any amount of asian or other genes in the tree limits its ability to pollinate. Here is a link that might be useful: u of sask plums

You don't need to buy a whole tree, Google Bob Purvis scions. He sells tons of scions of various fruit trees. $3 for a 6" scion and $5 for a 12".

You may end up order so many more varieties like I did :)
