Design advice needed for window treatments...please?

Hello decorating gurus! It sure has been a while since I've been here.

Anyhow, we just finished yet another reno project in the never ending restoration of our old home, and I need some advice on how to hang drapes on these windows. The trim you see in the pics are actually the original porch posts we uncovered beneath paneling. This room was originally a porch, and sometime in the 50s it was incorporated into living space, but done very poorly with no insulation. We salvaged the original design and did floor to ceiling windows within the posts. I don't want to cover those. But I feel like the room looks kind of bare without drapes, so I'd like to put drapes on either side of the double hung windows with the blinds (those are temporary). The chairs are temporary too btw.

My question: would you hang the drapes as high as the ceiling? Or just above the beam above the window? Or below the beam?
