I agree your woodwork is to be celebrated. I would be looking for a solution that adds color but also does not cover your restoration up. Roman blinds?

I would let them be. No drapes. There are so many pretty things happening already I'm not sure you need to add more. The beams almost act as a window treatment, the way they flank each window. I think less is more in this case. And, if those chairs are not permanent, then I assume a fabric chair or sofa will go there, which will add a source for color. Are the treatments necessary for privacy? Spectacular space, very tranquil to look at!

Definitely need something for privacy. This is in the front of the house facing the street. With the floor to ceiling windows you can see a lot at night, would not want to be any more exposed than that. What do you all suggest? Custom blinds? Plantation shutters? I don't love the look of roman shades when pulled all the way down. But I love when they are pulled a quarter of the way down, but that defeats the purpose.

blinds have a softer feel than plantation shutters..also shutters generally look amazing on taller windows..though it's not to say they won't look good here. Somehow your room spells blinds to me...something textured, soft, elegant, understated.

I wouldn't cover that beautiful architecture with drapery. Roman shades with a remote control. And for those small narrow openings, maybe something shirred on a tension rod to match? You could do a mini-shade but I'd leave the top portion open on those and just use fabric I think.

If you can go with custom Romans, they don't need to be plain and bland. There are other options besides flat and sheet looking. I always add an extra fold near the bottom, which leaves a little "skirt" beneath.

This skirt can also be a different fabric or can be shaped, i.e. scallops.

You can also add ribs, which gives it interest or even have small tucks to the front, where the ribs would be inserted.

You can have a 2" band around the sides and bottom, which also looks really nice.

Just a few things that can be done to dress them up so they don't look blah when down.
