You need more RAM. Windows XP needs at least 1 GB to operate smoothly. You will need to up grade the graphics card if you want to operate the games with no lag time. My computer is a home made one also and I have 2GB of RAM and I have no lag time in any of the games I play but I do not play the more graphic games like the War types. My graphics card had its own memory on it that was about 128MB. I would get one that has more memory than mine. Try NewEgg.com or TigerDirect.com and research graphics cards to find one with your requirements

I got an error message that this wasn't the right driver for my computer. Apparently it is not the right driver & the windows or the driver told you so. So I don't think I'd be installing it again. You may have been able to go to control panel and double click the Intel Graphics icon and set the resolution to the right size... but with that not the right driver message, you sort of did the right thing. That'll work! The proper thing may have been to go to Device manager and roll back the driver. Then microsoft would get the message and if enough people did the same they'd probably give you the proper driver as one of thier updates in the near future, if it is required. I had an intel 965 chipset graphic driver update from windows update for a vista laptop on April 7th. Works fine.
