Backsplash? No backsplash? What kind of backsplash?
Comments (25)didn't have time to read all the answers. I have no backsplash and have never regretted it...been over 6 yrs. It is painted with BM matte...which has ceramic in it. It is as beautiful now as it was when first painted. I love the fact that I can showcase other things ...art etc in my kitchen and no competition. Also if I ever want to change it is as quick as a paint brush...expense is minimal..paint only ! All in all I think it is serene as you point out . Here is one pick. Since I have a lot of high heat cooking in my kitchen..built in deep fat fryer as well as gas cook top I can definitely speak to the longevity of paint only. c ( more at this album )...See MoreGrout color for kitchen tile backsplash?
Comments (12)If you mean the NEMO in NYC Flatiron they are very helpful…I would be concerned only with the gunk collecting on the raised grout althought I love the look you chose. Having said that, I have white grout on white Mexican subway-type tiles (from Ideal Tile here in NYC) and I never had an issue with dirty grout and doubt if I've ever cleaned it except in tiny spots after frying. Looks nice…..Nemo is a good place with good prices….wish I could remember name of the lovely saleswoman I had there a few weeks ago. Having similar problem myself after choosing black and white granite honed counter and wondering if I should do white subways….this is in a newly bought Florida condo…granite seems to be the "bargain" material for countertops now even if some may call it "out of style!"...See MorePlease help identify this Grout Color for White Subway Tile Backsplash
Comments (2)I know that yogurt commercial picture is tough to really see the grout. But any suggestions for a good light tan or simply off white grout color to use?...See MoreI need help deciding what color tile to change the backsplash to.
Comments (8)This is going to be a challenge. I agree that the current backsplash clashes with the new granite. I would not do white tiles. Here is what you need to keep in mind. You need a transition color that will play well with the oak and the counter. Side story: I had to do my BS twice. We put in BM Dove White cabinets but picked (I was out voted!) a brown/taupe Giallo granite counter. We put a white BS in and it looked horrible. It was fighting with the counter. I wound up with a Grazia Rixie crackle tile in a cream color. The cream of the tile matches with the cream in the granite and transitions nicely from the white of the cabinets. It is difficult to see, but I am hoping you have a cream tone in the counter. Your counter reads taupe to me so a very light taupe might work. Ignore the white appliance. At some point, I would like to see stainless because the white is too stark with your browns. I agree with lefty about lighting, but I doubt it will help as your current BS appears gold/yellow....See Morejesders
