My 2c: The med cab with the same width as the vanity will look ok. (Had the same in my old bath though the vanity was smaller -- and it looked fine. Replaced it with a long mirror spanning over toilet + vanity and that looks great too). IMO a recessed one would look better -- but it does not matter really. Regarding the light placement, no matter what you choose, arrange the lights aligned/centered over the sinks and make sure that they do not look like one long line of lights. If they are two separate lights, then they should look separate or else there should be one giant (5-light?) strip centered around the entire mirror. Hope this helps..

I always determine the location of the leak prior to any demo work. I'll pressure test the suspect pipe first, if it passes I'll drain the spa and see if I can see the leak in reverse. If you have a leak by a wall fitting or a drain frame it'll typically come back out from where it was leaking into the gunite shell because the water level has dropped below the leak. For pool leaks I use a syringe and dye to make the wall fitting test. I also peek inside to make sure that the pipe is cut cleanly and glued into the fitting well. Don't worry about how much material you have to chip out, it can be replaced no matter how much you remove. I typically make my own material for the patch with torpedo sand and portland cement and use pool patch for the plaster. If it was a large demo area I'll replaster the entire spa with white portland and pool mix. This isn't rocket science, with good observation skills you can find the leak, and with a little mechanical aptitude you can make a good repair. See ya, Kelly

Thanks for you responses. Too bad my son didn't think of changing the door out to a window when he had new windows and new siding installed last spring. i just remembered that he actually used that door once. He had bought a new dresser that didn't fit up the bend in the staircase so he had it hoisted up on that roof and got it into the house through that door. I guess he may need that door to get the dresser back out someday if he moves, although he could include it in the sale of the house. He will have to look into the cost of turning it into a window vs installing a railing. Vith, Can those post bases you linked really be sealed well enough to not cause any leaking?
