Trough sink fixture spacing.
Comments (5)That can be a bit snug, but no worries if you want to give it a shot. Where you place them can be dependent on the size and shape of the faucets. Sometimes they can be weighted towards the sides, but the faucets can be angled a little towards the drain. If you get to close to the sides, you have have splash issues there. I'd simply recommend you do a mock-up. Start with the faucets spaced about 22-23" apart (11"-11-1/2" on either side of the drain), that'll put them about 5-1/2" from the side edges of the sink. That 2/3rds ratio is a good starting point. Play with that a bit, an inch over here, an inch over there. Try them in the corners angled in. Even on the side of the sink, towards the back corner. One other thing I'll mention is the drain pop-up. If it is important to have one, have you given that thought?...See Morespace needed for faucet behind farmhouse sink?
Comments (6)There is no one answer to your question. The variables are: -- depth of sink front to back -- front panel and sides of sink and whether those permit bumping out (not all farm sink sides are the same nor all the front panels the same) -- way the sink will be mounted under/flush with/or above the counter --interior cabinet construction -- how the faucet operates and how it will be installed. --faucet stem thickness can be an issue or sometimes there is a flange underneath to hold the faucet in place which needs clearance below. Perhaps you are aware that sinks and faucets have specification diagrams (we call those downloads) with all this critical installation information. My suggestion is to download the diagrams for each sink under consideration and read them very carefully. The inside measurements of the sink cannot be used for this purpose -- anyone who tells says such and such is ok without consulting the diagram I wouldn't trust. The person who orders and specifies the cabinets should also be given copies of those sheets as well as all the spec sheets for appliances (you likely know this but just in case). I made a booklet of those for the designer plus 2 others -- one for the plumber and one for the contractor. No one can say they don't have the right info. Likewise, download the spec sheets for any faucet considered. Pay special attention to the thickness of the faucet stem and the way the faucet operates. F.ex. some faucets turn on by pulling sideways but alo need to swivel from front to back to go from cold to hot. There must be enough space behind the faucet to permit that. Or, since you're concerned about leaning in, perhaps it would be a good idea to look at one of the Grohe faucets that can be front mounted -- that is with the control facing in and over the sink. That can be very helpful when space is tight....See MoreFaucet Reach on 36' Farmhouse Sink
Comments (10)I have a 30" farmhouse sink and I just went and measured my Rohl faucet. It is 10 and 1/2 inches. I can't remember if they called this a 10 or 11 inch reach. Anyway, I went with the longer version that they offered even with my 30 inch sink. I did this because in my other home I am used to this very long faucet (maybe 14 inches) that I have on this huge double sink. It's probably a bit long but I was used to it and I was afraid if I got a short one on my Shaw's sink that I would not like it. Truthfully, I think my Rohl at times is a bit long and gets in the way, but I think the shorter version would have been too short to suit me. I would have to think that with a 36" sink you would want at least a 10 inch. Are you going to have a spray? Hopefully someone with a 36" sink will chime in soon....See MoreFaucet suggestions for 36 inch sink
Comments (5)#1 means that faucet has a flow of 1.5 gallons per minute. Here's a snip from a 2012 discussion on the plumbing forum: If a pot takes 4 gallons to fill ... 2.2 gpm = 1.818 mins at full flow. 1.75 gpm = 2.286 mins at full flow. That's 0.468 of a minute difference. Total of 28 seconds, bit less than half a minute. Evidently 2.2 gpm used to be the norm for kitchen faucets, but now the "waterwise" norm is 1.5. Chances are good you won't notice the difference and you will save water. #2 is a serious issue. In a large sink you need a long enough reach with the pull out hose to be able to rinse the outer edges of the sink. The hose doesn't have to extend the whole distance, but you do have to be able to get a vigorous stream of water to hit the all the edges. The Moen page says the Brantford has a 68" hose length and a 32" supply length. Presuming one of those numbers is how far the pull out hose will pull out, you should be good. Here is a link that might be useful: Moen page with length info...See Moreakl_vdb
