I don't think those stools do your gorgeous space any favors. The tubular steel looks tired to my eyes (that may be because I equate that style of furniture to little 'make do' apartments I had in the 80s), and something more substantial and current in style would be much better. For $300 per stool, you have a lot of options. Try searching Wayfair, O.co, Pier 1, etc.

ETA: Something like this might be pretty.

I agree with Ida, for such a beautifully updated space those tools look a bit dated and are too small in scale to the expanse of the counter. I think within that price range you will have plenty of options. Here is one under $200 if you're willing to go beyond black:

it is funny you asked because when I was looking at your "before" pics earlier, I was thinking I liked those stools better. Now I know you are looking for swivel, though. Ballard Designs has some nice ones.

Of the last two options you presented, I like the first one. However, as you said, it doesn't swivel and that's a feature you'd like to have. I'd keep looking.

Your kitchen is gorgeous!!! I recall when you were first considering having the darker wood cabinets painted white. I am quite inspired by your project to consider having our cabinets painted white. Beautiful job!!!!!

No to any of the non swivel ones. If you have an At Home store near you they have seriously hundreds of nice ones for very good prices. Here this store used to be a garden Ridge but has now become At Home.

The Rebecca posted is a good choice.

I much prefer swivel too but never again will I sit in a tall stool with casters! I nearly cracked my skull when the thing flipped backwards and my head slammed into the tile floor.

Do you sew? The bases of those stools work, it's just the backs with their swirls that aren't working. I would attempt to slip cover the backs of your existing stools before going out and spending $900 on new stools. If it's the black metal you don't like, a can of spray paint will fix that.

It's taken me YEARS to find new stools since my kitchen reno. We even built a new house and moved, so I've been looking for new stools through 2 new kitchens. I finally bought some, and I'm not in love. Ugh.

BTW, that last picture is nice looking, but I got a couple to try them out in my new house, and they're AWFUL, So uncomfortable. I took the back off, and it's an improvement, in that it allows you to sit further back. But now it doesn't have a back on it. They are now backup stools for when we have company.

I like the Hettinger one; it will be great with your gorgeous countertops, it looks and feels substantial, and creates a bit of visual tension yet harmonizes at the same time..the golden nails pick up the gold in your pendants..and they seem comfy too, for prolonged sitting. Don't know about their quality-I guess one won't know until he tries them.

My second choice would be the one that was suggested in the kitchen..the Chinoiserie motive one..but it doesn't swivel.

The rest, are too visually light and a bit too matchy matchy..I think..
