Counter stools for kitchen island

We have a long island in the kitchen, but not enough space to use large counter stools. We have stained cypress cabinets, Tropic Brown granite, and a light "washed green" island (also with the Tropic Brown granite.) Probably sounds funny, but it really looks good. oh, and brick floors. (Picture A. Hayes Town/Louisiana style.)

I'm guessing I should go with the backless black saddle seat stools, but would welcome suggestions and where to buy. Thank you!

Counter stools at a kitchen island require careful measuring. The higher the counter height, the more splay in the legs (necessary for stability). A general rule of thumb is your stool seat height is 13" below the height of the countertop. As an example, if your countertop is 39" high then you'll be shopping for a 26" seat height stool +/- 1" depending on personal preferences.

Warren Chair Works and Lawrence Crouse both make the type of stools you are mentioning, to custom seat heights. Ping me off-list if you need more info.

Hello, Have you searched for feedback on concrete countertops? There was a great one on here that definitely turned me off. I don't like how porous it is, the staining, etc. But I'm a lover of stainless steel which is what I am planning on for my kitchen. One of my friend's sister put in concrete w/out knowing how it is and is now very upset with how it's so easy to stain and she just hates it. Just a head's up. Amanda

Search for some of @KarinMT's posts - she is a geologist and has written quite a bit about quartzites vs. marbles and Super White in particular. Here is one of her published articles " What about Super White? Super White is one of the stones that is frequently caught in the quartzite vs. marble mystery. Most commonly, Super White is dolomitic marble. That means it won’t scratch glass and it will etch with acids. Some Super White has minor amounts of quartz mixed in with the marble. But the rock is still marble and will act like marble. When doing the glass test with Super White, be sure to test a few different areas to get a sense for the overall rock. Is it all the same? Or are there some parts that are harder or softer?" Be absolutely sure to test several areas of the slab(s) in question and understand you have a marble.

Thank you so much! it was a labor of love my dad, husband and I took it from the drywall stage and did all the interior. Still little things to be done but we are getting there. As for the stools I really like those as well but I can't find a matching one for the 4th. We had them in our previous home and only needed 3. It is a 10 ft island.

We have 4 upholstered room and board cora swivel chairs that have held up really well with a cat, dog, and lots of use (plus one move). Swivel was great for our set up that sounds similar to yours. I wanted to get their leather versions but we couldn't swing the expense in the cora style, but I'm pleasantly surprised how well the fabric versions have held up. The one slightly (but not very negative) thing about the fabric is that pet & human hairs seem to cling to it altho I might be the only one who notices. The legs show no wear and tear whatsoever despite banging around them with a vacuum, and we sit there so often that I would've expected more scuff marks and whatnot.
