LOOKS KIND OF CREEPY. REMIDED ME OF OUIJA TOO.

Has anyone else owned that couch ? Has it been any where besides your house ? It's a strange item . It looks like a lacing pattern on the back with the holes as if it were part of a belt or corset or jewelry . Best guess part of a belt buckle .

I think its an unfinished piece by a hobbyist jewelry artist. This could be a pendant for a necklace or a bola tie clasp. If a pendant, a loop for stringing on a necklace needs to be soldered on; If a bola tie clasp, a cord slide needs to be soldered onto the back.

This is one of two chairs we purchased new a couple of years ago. We recently renovated the kitchen, dining and living room and the chairs were stored in a spare bedroom for a couple of months. They've been in use again for about two months and only family have been here. I thought it looked like ugly jewelry. How it got there, I'll probably never know.

I don't know anything about Ouija, but if you google jeweled Ouija pointer (planchette is the correct term, I see) you definitely see some similarities. I wonder if there is any symbolism of the 13 black stones.

What a great mystery. Do you suppose the upholsterer lost it? Odd shape but good size for a belt buckle if you are into rodeo/monster trucks... The holes make me wonder if it is a tool for threading yarn/string/leather strips....or holder there of.

Might have been in the chair before you stored it, so could belong to someone that came to the house before that.

It was hanging down from the strap/closure on a purse, but it broke at the top and came off?

I agree that it looks like part of a belt, pendant or a purse decoration, but I really think it's interesting and not ugly. It's got that southwest US handmade flavor that appeals to me. Was the chair a floor model?

It would really bother me to know what it is and how it got into a chair in my home. It is not a small trinket you could easily lose this has weight and size I would think that some one would notice it was missing. Definitely a mystery.

I noticed on closer inspection that at the top left, looking at the picture, there are 2 small stones in the holes but those are the only stones in the holes. It appears that the thing was not punched properly, the holes I believe should have been punched where the raised dots are and in some spots they are cutting into the dots. It could be part of a costume. It's definitely a base metal and fake jewels so costume jewelry range .

First, I would take it to a First Class Jewelry Shop and hope they might have some idea what it is. Second, I would take it to a real antiques business if you have one in your area. It's history is a mystery and I would really want to know more about it.

I do not know what it is. Have you had any small children visiting your house since you've had this chair? One of my grandchildren (especially around the age of 2) loved to hide things in the upholstered crevices of sofas & chairs. If small children have been in your house, maybe it's an object they had brought with them & you may never had seen them come in with it?

These chairs were not floor models and were shipped to us all wrapped in plastic. I have three grandchildren that visit. Boys 10 and 17 and neither of them knows where it came from, but the 17 year-old thinks it's cool and would like to have it, LOL. The other is the 2 year-old princess and I doubt it's hers. And I have cleaned out those chairs many times (DH is a crumby kind of guy) and NEVER seen or felt it. Just don't want any bad JuJu/Voodoo, LOL.

The ouija thing (planchette?) has feet on it so it can slide. That looks a lot more like a pendant to me. Though the markings on the back remind me of that mysterious stone from oak island. Maybe you've found a clue to the treasure!

I'm no sure why but it makes me think of a Celtic broach or sash pin. I'd certainly want to know its origins.

It's most definitely not a part of a ouija board. I think the markings on the back are a guide for the holes which were not punched in the correct spots. It's either how to connect chains or laces to it. It's definitely only a part of a bigger piece.

Off topic : I am so ensconced in the oak island mystery and show! I just want them to find something already!

Perhaps, in the process of making the chair, some worker dropped it in to the chair and it's just surfacing now.

In the image of the back of this thing, I believe that I can see a break in the top.

Bengardening, the piece is made of metal. Rhizo, you are correct. There is a break in the middle of the arc on top.

Ravencajun you said something about 2 small stones. Those aren't stones it is just the background where her hand isn't behind it. They would have to be on the other side when it was flipped over.

Ravencajun I watch "The Curse of Oak Island" too. I know they have spent hig bucks and have nothing of real value to show gor it. I get flashbacks of Capones vault lol

Oh yeah you are correct it's the dark background and looked like stones. Looks like about 5 small ones are missing. I wondered if that was a break in the top.
