A vent.....frustration....

marilyn_c

I'm sorry. This has been such a stressful day for me. No one here to talk to....cats are so uninterested. It may be long, so feel free to skip on by.

Jody called the lawyer and he said to come in and sign the release and he'd cut us checks. (Jody got one too since he was a passenger, and was hurt worse than I was). It was on the far side of Houston...very far side. Jody had gone to the boat early, so he called me about 9:30 and told me to hurry and pick him up. He was at his deckhand's place...but before we left, had to go feed "his" cats at the dock. I wanted to get to the lawyer's before noon, and we barely made it, but we did. I called the kill pen and told the guy I would send the money in the afternoon and then made arrangements with the vet to go give him a couple of shots, his Coggins, microchip and health certificate. Paid with my debit card. Dropped Jody at his deckhand's because he had to take her to a doctor appointment and I came home, stopping to get something for supper, and to the feed store to get hay and look for a blanket for Valor.

My phone was dead so put it on the charger in the truck. Got home and it was almost 6, so I tried to make payment on Valor. I tried my bank card and it was declined. I knew the money was good because I had paid the vet with it. I hadn't even gone through the gate. I have a reloadable Visa card, so I went back to town and took $900 cash, went to Walmart, and put it on the Visa.

Out in the parking lot, I tried to pay....Valor cost $850, and it was declined. I had the receipt that showed my balance was a little over $900. I started back home.....about 20 miles...and my mind was racing. I stopped at a service station, where I had a little light, and called customer service on the Visa....because when I checked the balance again, it showed less than $60.

I got a nice girl in India, or maybe Pakistan. I have nothing against either of those countries, but I have a very hard time understanding what they say. Her voice was high pitched and she talked very fast. I got maybe every third word. I don't think she could understand me, either. I was on the phone almost an hour. She finally put her supervisor on, who was even harder for me to understand. I tried to explain to her my circumstances. I told her I was trying to pay for a horse, and he was at a slaughter house (well.......not quite true but I wanted her to know the urgency I felt)...and if I didn't get him paid for by the 6th, he would be killed. I also told her I had to pick him up on Friday. After some checking, she told me it had cleared, but something about the money wouldn't be available until the 12th. That caused me more panic. I was literally crying. I had tried to text the guy at the kill pen to tell him what I was doing but didn't get any answers. Finally I gave up on the customer service and then he texted that he'd check when he got home to see if the payment cleared.

When I got home, having been gone a good 12 hours, I was met with chaos....all those animals and all of them hungry. The feral hogs had come up and were all in the driveway....all 15 of them. The donkeys in the barn were kicking the stalls. The horses were no where to be found, but eventually came up and I put them in the barn lot and the mule started pawing the fence. I have a bunch of knuckle headed dogs and I put them up every night so they don't chase wildlife and they were jumping all over me. Cats were squalling. Jody called to tell me he was spending the night on the boat and who was that guy that was on the news and his mother is an actress??? He meant Anderson Cooper and his mother isn't an actress (Amy Vanderbilt) and really, I could give a damn less.

It took me a good two hours to get them all fed and taken care of. My hip was killing me. When Jody is home, he helps me feed, and often I would rather do it by myself because I have certain ways I do it and always for a reason....but no help tonight, and I really could have used some. I was anxious to get in the house to check on the computer my Paypal account. I think I figured out why my bank declined payment. I think when they got the vet bill in Louisiana and then me trying to send more money to Louisiana, they blocked my account. They did it once before when I bought a large order of waterlilies out of state. So, I think they thought something suspicious was going on. I have a separate account from Jody and we also have a joint account, and my account never has much over $500 in it and I use it for my extra little stuff....like when I donate to the horse rescue. Sometimes I pay a bill....like the phone bill or buy something on ebay. I will go see about it tomorrow. When I finally checked my phone again....had a text from the kill pen guy "Paid". I texted back...."Thank God. I was about to slit my wrists."

Thanks for listening.....reading. I think we will go pick up Valor on Friday. His paperwork will be ready tomorrow evening, but need to get things lined up here.

And it sounds like you could use a little rest too. You've waited this long for Valor, wait until Friday even as much as you want him. Can you lay down with some heat for your hip? It always helped mine to get all weight off of it, heat more helpful than ice.

My hearing is perfectly fine, but I have real trouble with the customer service persons in India. I think it's partly the accent, partly the connection, but I struggle, straining to follow the conversation in just that one circumstance only.

I get the frustration with your payment problems, with mixed feelings because I know the card companies can be trying to protect us...or, where they don't make us pay for unauthorized purchases, maybe its themselves they are trying to protect but I've had calls on a weekend twice now over the years about charges being made to my card that were not in my usual spending pattern Both times it was someone with my number somehow and charging really strange purchases to my account...airline tickets in New Jersey (I'm in Washington, and not DC), taxi rides in Texas, escort services in Russia...

I wish you'd had some help with the animals tonight. I've driven into the driveway tired to guests I wasn't expecting (parked in my way) - never feral hogs! Your life is more interesting than mine ;0 Please clean up a little, get some rest, make Jody help tomorrow night so you are fresh for Valor on Friday. You want to make a good first impression on that boy, hopefully you'll have him a very long time. (((((((( hugs)))))

    J. Hogan (Oklahoma) So, i suspected that they were all connected since all the photos are exactly the same for each company, I even called and asked that specific question if they were affiliated, all I got was double talk trying to make it sound like they were all independent. I'm relieved that I am not the only one and that I was not unreasonable with my thoughts on this company. In 2016 I too went for their great prices and pretty pictures of the plants that I was hoping to see in my yard, but most of them died. I did soak the roots as suggested, planted and waited to see if anything would bloom but no... My order was over $150.00 and they told me I could get replacements but because I did not have the original slip to send to them I could not get any replacements even though they had me in their computer system and was able to view my complete order and I gave them a list of all that did not survive they would not replace any of my plants I was totally disgusted. I have come to the conclusion that the company, of many names, receive the orders; taking people's money.... the employees in the fields do not care what they pack up, anything, dead or alive just getting through their work day and the company takes advantage of all mishaps with customer satisfaction being the least of their concerns.

Have you checked to make certain the machine's feet are bearing equally or nearly-equally on the floor? If they aren't, the machine's suspension can't do what it's supposed to and your frequency of out-of-balance condition will increase. I haven't yet encountered a modern FL with this complaint that wasn't made right by doing a dynamic balance. That is, wait for the machine to spin up under load and tweak one of the front feet. Doesn't take much adjustment to make a huge difference but must be done in-operation while spinning under load. Once done, it will stay that way. Frankly, unless/until you're certain of this, blaming the machine is premature. I haven't yet encountered any installer that hangs around long enough to do this. However, it isn't hard to do and no machine will operate as intended unless those feet can bear properly.

Pot. Kettle. Black. If someone doesn't come up with a solution to solve the peace, then there is no peace. You're glossing over the part of whatever your husband said about BM in front of the child, whatever it was, there needs to be an apology. Or not. I think it was yucky for her to post about him on a networking site, but if it was true as you are stating it was and he has not apologized...and it wasn't done in front of the children, there really isn't a leg he can stand on. The apology should've come first. Well, he shouldn't have said anything in front of the children to begin with.

Good advice above. I think that you are on the right track in getting another quote or two on superior windows. Richlin covers a pretty small area nationally as far as I know which would explain why you don't hear more about it. Solid product. I assume that you are in the upper midwest based on that product availability?

Oh goodness! What a day and so much stress. I hope that today is calmer and that your hip feels better. Valor will be with you on Friday, hooray!

I think that Indian people actually speak English with different inflections in their pronunciation and they are high pitched and talk too fast. Impossible to understand especially when you are in an 'urgent' frame of mind. I hope that you don't have to call customer service again for a long , long time.

I appreciate that you are a savior of the wild animals out there, but feral pigs are dangerous! Did you at least have a weapon in case you got charged by them?

Dang cats care about nothing aside from the rattle of the kibble in their dish or some petting when they are in the mood for it. They sure don't make good listeners :-)

I didn't mention that I sent about five texts to the kill pen guy because I couldn't believe my efforts to pay kept being rejected. He didn't respond to most of them and I was thinking about how many crazy people he has to deal with every day. Then I thought this is a guy who is comfortable sending horses to a horrible death all the time. He doesn't care about an old woman trying to save one. Turns out he wasn't home. I just was tired and frustrated, and thinking about all my animals at home and trying to feed them all in the dark.

The feral hogs aren't mean....an aggravation, yes. I seii them. I train them to load in the stock trailer. I never intended to be a hog farmer but they were here and it has been a never ending saga. The boar is huge...probably close to 700 lb. He is too big to breed now, and he is a pet, so I hope when these last ones go, that will be the end of it. I say "pet"... I don't pet him and he is skittish but I like him. That's Pig Newton. The two sows... One wild (Delores) and one tame (Pig Lee) and Jody thinks we are going to sell them, but we aren't. Pig Lee trusts me....I won't betray her trust and Pig Delores is getting old and can stay. If Newt can't get them pregnant any more, I don't see why those 3 can't stay. Believe me...they aren't leaving. I don't care what Jody thinks.

Jody needs knee surgery too but has to put it off until I get mine done. I would like to put mine off for awhile. It depends on what the MRI shows.

Too bad you don't have someone besides Jody to pet sit even in a pinch on one of "those days".

DH always calls the bank before he makes a larger purchase. He gladly pays the fees without complaint if it's over the daily amount. He says he'd prefer to pay the fees to use the PayPal or debit as credit card bills are too easily overlooked in stressful times.

Lily, I don't like horse slaughter either, but it will never end. Something was done...it was made illegal in the US and then horses were sent to Mexico and Canada. As long as there is a market for it, it will exist. I wish it would be brought back to the US and strictly regulated and over seen. I wish people would stop breeding....ain't going to happen. I wish people would see their animals as a life time commitment...that won't happen either. I see people all the time on FB and even Craig's List...looking for a horse that they usually gave away for free to a "good home" and then the horse came up missing and the person they gave it to won't tell what happened. No one will love your old animals like you do. I will put mine down before I will sell them or give them away. I don't trust anyone to take care of them. I read on FB recently where someone was saying they were going to have to put their old horse down, and people actually came on and said, "don't do that...you can give him away. Someone will take him." Yeah...someone will take him to an auction and dump him. I think if you have an animal, you have an obligation to them to be able to make the hard decisions.

I can't have anyone take care of my animals so I can go somewhere because it is too much for most people. I don't mind. I would rather stay home now than go anywhere anyway.

Today wasn't much better than yesterday. I went to the bank to draw out money to replace that $900 in cash....and found out, it had been debited from my account. So, the horse was paid for twice. I am really ticked off about it because both cards declined and then both cards paid. I have got to get hold of him and see if he will issue a refund. I am sure he will. He makes a fortune off these old, poor horses that he extorts money for from bleeding hearts like me. I need to call Visa again but I was busy all day and not up for another conversation with someone from India that I can't make out half of what she says.

Jody came home and we worked all day, getting ready to go tomorrow. He was bound and determined that we were going to leave at 3 a.m. He had to fix the lights on the trailer....and that took forever. The dogs had chewed the wires. I had so much to do but he had me standing behind the trailer to tell him if this light, or that one was working. Or to step on the brake or turn on the blinkers. He needed to change the oil in the truck....didn't get to it. I needed to wash the floor mats in the trailer and by the time we got to that, it was dark. He finally said we would just get up and go when we get up in the morning. Thank God for that! I feel like I've been hit by a truck!
