Help identifying this plant

Found this plant was at Cape Borda on Kangaroo Island SA (western end) above sea cliffs. it was less than 0.5m high, taken in April. I've been through plant lists for KI, the Overton's Discover KI native plants and SA herbarium and seed websites, but doesn't key out. SA NPWS no help either. The striated branchlets suggest exocarpos syrticola but fruit completely wrong. Small opposite leaves appear at the non-flowering nodes. Not sure whether the photo shows flowers/fruit or possibly insect galls. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Sorry, cgwarn. It's only now that I've come across your post.

I checked on Plant Distribution Mapper & found that Exocarpus syrticola is principally a coastal South Australian plant but with occurrences on Bass Strait islands & the western coast of Tasmania. The one place the species didn't show up is Kangaroo Island which is a little surprising since it's shown as growing nearby on the mainland.

Have you thought of taking your photos to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens or a Coast Care group for identification? Maybe the Kangaroo Island Council has an environment officer who could help.

It does look like a crinum to me as well - esp. the leaves. I looked up Ammocharis coranca, and its leaves and bulb looked different - the leaves were very flat, for instance.

Hello alisonoz_gw, I left because of the Green Nazi that permeates this
topic. One in particular has taken it on themselves to reclassify the
thread from "natives" to "Indigenous plants", meaning if you want to
plant anything outside the "region" you will be admonished. Saw when
someone asked advice on growing an SA native plant in Brisbane. No no
no naughty naughty. I'd of advised "give it a go". We, the majority
are gardeners, not from the green movement. Yes I use FB now too. These types are everywhere, happily killing off forums.
