Small Microwave/Convection Oven Suggestions?
Comments (9)I tried the "little" Sharp, but there is a big expansion on the back that makes this 0.9 cubic foot oven a lot bigger than other compact microwaves. I decided it was too big and sent it back. Also, I am not convinced that it makes sense to combine these two functions in one oven. I decided to just buy a 59.00 microwave that's nice and compact. I only use it for popcorn, defrosting, and reheating coffee. I reason that if I need a little convection oven one day I can buy one of those for around 100.00 any time....See Moresmall microwave
Comments (10)Aargh I spent weeks researching this as we have so little counter space and I had an old micro just the right size. Just went with the Panasonic 657S, very close in size, and it's been good so far -- pretty much what we had with a couple of updated things we didn't have before. New: a one-minute button -- handy. Popcorn button, also handy. It has sensor-cook settings, which I was dubious about, but those work great for my frozen diet meals -- I just push one instead of setting the exact time. Those are impressive. The big complaint on this one is the LED display, which is just awful. That was on a lot of the feedback on amazon and I agree. It looks like 888 (lucky in China!). So it's hard to read clock or time remaining. But, light goes on while it's running so when light goes out food is done. I bought from Amazon as I had coupons but there are some better prices around on other sites which bing would probably turn up. Here is a link that might be useful: Panasonic 675S...See MoreSmall microwave without reminder bells/END
Comments (7)Oh, how funny this was posted! I was going to post with just the opposite problem...we got a new Frigidaire OTR MW that emits 1/2 of a barely audible beep (you need to be right next to it to even notice) and then the word "off" when using the timer. I assumed something was wrong with it. After all, why would you want to use a timer that made you stare at the countdown so you'd know the time was up? I actually argued with the appliance folks that it had to be malfunctioning, that I'd never heard of a timer that didn't tell/remind you that time was up! So they finally "agreed" to replace the electrical board (?) just to keep me happy! Here's hoping I'm right. When the cooking/heating time is done it does the normal 3 loud beeps. My issue is the timer itself. Anyone?...See MoreNeed recommendations for Small microwave model
Comments (2)The smallest I've seen are some corner microwaves that are actually triangular in shape and could be put in a corner. Be careful to maintain adequate venting around the microwave so it doesn't burn out during operation or get the cabinetry too hot. Whirlpool has also come out with a very slim profile microwave called "low profile" that could be put most anywhere, and other brands have their versions of this as well, some smaller than others. There are also below-counter drawer microwaves that can be installed in base cabinetry. If you haven't visited your largest local appliance showroom, the reps there could probably help you out. The triangular corner microwaves you should be able to locate on Amazon....See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
