Sharp and Panasonic make most of the microwaves in the world, no matter what the name. The main thing to look for when buying a small one is that it has full power.

I'm not even sure what full power is. I did no research when i bought mine a couple years ago. Knee-jerk purchase at a Lowes buying some light bulbs. We had been without one for a year or so and realized how much we used that tiny half-pint that still worked but the latch broke.

This one has been great and roomy for such a small footprint. 11inch plate on the rotation thing. The few bad reviews did not read the manual. Fits nice in the pantry.

We like that it is tall for the pyrex mixing bowls. Mostly used for quick re-heats, not fast food/frozen foods.

If you have a corner, the whirlpool is great. If not, there is a very small Rival/Sunbeam/Hamilton Beach micro that is often available for under $50 at Target and Walmart as a loss leader. I just junked one that lasted 8 years. They will hold a regular dinner plate, but are not tall enough for a big pyrex mixing bowl.

I have this one for a few years now.

BTW, if you are a lefty, good luck. No one makes MW for lefties.

I think "full power" is at least 1,000 and up to 1,500. Not sure if term is watts. The older ones were usually about 750, took longer to heat item.

I'm a righty, and considering the only place to put this very short corded appliance in my kitchen makes it inconvenient for either lefties or righties to open and get into..... yeah, they should make the doors convertible. ;)
