Just wondering what i have got here
Comments (2)I doubt your ID. Probably more like O. microdasys that is horribly etiolated. Translation: probably a common plant that was grown far from any real source of light. Those are new stems, not flowers. Ideally, you would break off the longest growth and keep the plant in good light and water sparingly. Be careful those white dots. They are composed of hundreds of tiny barbed spines. If you get some in you, you can run the affected part through your hair, use Elmers Glue and let it dry, or any other way there is to extract them. No matter what the ID (and unless it is something like microdasys), Opuntias are generally hard to ID unless you know where the plant came from and it has some classic traits. Traits like a specific shape, color or spine display. Cultural conditions can change a plant's appearance....See MoreI just got some catalogues and Im wondering.....
Comments (5)Thanks everyone. Brenda both "Black Gamecock" and "Spicy Cajun" Louisiana Iris are listed as zone 4 plants. I have checked other sources that say they are zone 4/5 plants. Im gonna go ahead and try them. Louisiana Iris's are one of the most beautiful in the world. Ljpother- I hope your Rose of Sharon's survive and flower this summer. They are beautiful plants. I highly doubt that in Edmonton they will ever become a shrub, but if they behave like butterflybushes they will die to the snowline and flower regardless. I've been noticing that Edmonton area greenhouses are starting to bring more exotic plants. Last year I bought a "Blue Moon" wisteria I hope it survives and flowers this summer. Let us know what happens to your Rose of Sharons....See MoreInternet TV/Netflix/Roku etc
Comments (5)The firmware can usually be updated via an internet connection, a CD-R, or a USB thumb drive. I have found from testing prototypes, the most reliable firmware upgrades are usually from a USB drive first, CD-R next, and the internet last. Try going to the mfgs website and downloading the update file (for the appropriate media) and instructions. A two year old BluRay player without a single firmware update is bound to have it's share of problems. Quite a few brand new players need to updated right out of the box....See MoreThe "active elderly" thread got me wondering...
Comments (37)A long time ago, I read an interview with Carol Channing, in which she claimed to be a Christian Scientist and didn't believe in "age, as a number". I liked that idea...mostly because I could never remember how old I was.....that is an indicator of how important age has always been to me, I think....and I must have been in my 50;s then. I don't think I really began to 'think' about age as a number to remember until I was in my 70's...or, now in those 80's. Maybe 'age' has become an "excuse" "(for me) now days.........something to think about.....hmmmmm....See More- 9 years ago
