Nicole-tell me about your kitchen cabinets!
Comments (3)Hi Tuesday.... I did a kitchen remodel about 7 years ago. There are 75 cabinets and drawers.....no need to use the exact same wood to achieve the updated look. My house was built in '84. I LOVED the 6 burner Wolf range and the foot print of the kitchen(so I kept that). I replaced the cabinet doors(custom cab shop did them in shaker). They are red oak, which looks just like birch or bamboo or about any other light wood from a distance. By matching the granite to the color of the cabs and not using a contrasting color like black....it blends the coloring of the cabs instead of accenting the cabs. :0) The flooring is also a gold tile....another "blending" of the color. It tricks the eye....See MoreIn need of your recommendations! Please!
Comments (19)Tommie - I really like your house & if the plants get too large u can't see the nice brick detail. Agree with emmarene that it looks nice now but I would move the plants when they're small. I would leave a "service alley" next to the house. I removed the overgrown shrubs next to my triple living room window & planted boxwood about 6 ft away & I love it. After I did it one of my neighbors came over - liked it and did the same thing at his home....See MoreNeed your recommendations!

Comments (15)Dozens of decent curry and Garam Masala spice blends available. You will get the basic seasoning profile from just about any of them. Then add some fresh produce like ginger, garlic, onion sauté...then the curry blend. Get the spice nice and toasty till dry in the pan, then add stock, chopped tomato, chicken, diced potato, or what the recipe requires. I've have come across Islay's link to the 4 spice gift blends exactly. So it is available US. (I think it was around the holidays on a gift-giving posting...maybe NYTimes) I've been making my own spice blends for a dozen years but before that I used the top one in the tins being so readily available in most US groceries. Sort of the OldBay of India. If wanting to purchase today via Amazon I would probably choose the garam masala in the bag based on reviews. I'm very familiar with authentic. For the past twenty years or so, an Indian restaurant well known lunch spot, across the street from work, connected to an enormous over the top decorated event hall catering to the local Indian population for weddings, etc...make/or made, a big lunch buffet, all you could eat for 6-7 bucks. (Charged 10 if you left anything on your plate)...discouraging waste. Very popular for office/work groups on Fridays. Never a line or a wait....having the event hall as a seating overflow area. Why we rarely crave Indian food at home. I make a batch maybe once a years during the winter months....See Moreglenda_al
