Amaryllis growing kit with Fiber Disk??
Comments (5)Sounds like the trouble I had wetting the "growing sponges" that came with the Chia Herb Garden someone gave me. Took days in a lidded container of water, and even then they dried out daily. I found myself trying to balance drops water on top of them long enough for them to soak in. Once the plants were better rooted, it didn't seem to be as bad, and now that they're all potted up and surrounded by soil, I don't worry about the sponge part and just water the dirt. =P Jennifer and I must have the hydrophobic touch or something. - Lali...See MoreProblem with amaryllis silhouette
Comments (59)Thank you for your comments about my gallery and blog. But both show a big problem of mine: I am not able to focus on one or two plant familys. My plant collection is a real mess, the spanish phrase "de todo un poco" applies very well. So I am doing many things but nothing properly....See MoreAmaryllis Issues: Red Spots on Apple Blossom Bulb and Dark Leaves
Comments (1)Not sure why no one else responded, but if you're still looking for answers I'll say what I would think the issue is, though pictures will get you better advice. First, note that the bulbs often have red spots as a result of physical injury. That said I would also be concerned if I had pealed off an outer layer and found a red spot inside on the bulb. I have a hard time seeing a difference between the red splotch virus and regular damage discoloration so always worry when I see any red. But so far my bulbs have been fine. The white fuzzy stuff does sound like too much moisture is being retained one way or another. Each time you repotted, did you water again? I would not have. I also wait until my pot is bone dry before watering well. I used a flat, wooden coffee stirrer. I keep it in the pot pushed all the way to the bottom. Before watering, I pull it out slowly and check if it is dry or not. If it's bone dry, I water again. I would encourage you to try again if you didn't manage to save these two. I read on here years ago that master gardeners don't reach that level until they've killed at least a thousand plants, or something like that. :-)...See MoreAmaryllis problem
Comments (7)The only time I've had that issue is when I've had bulbs that had a lot of red blotch and the bulbs had a lot of red, mushy flesh. I usually have a couple bulbs with this problem, if I leave them outdoors over winter. I just pulled a bulb like that a week or so ago. I cleaned off all the red blotch layers, dipped the bulb in bleach water, cut the basal plate to clean off the damaged areas, let the bulb dry and then replanted it. Please don't be rude to people when you're asking for advice. You didn't even wait 24 hours for a response!...See Morejay83
