Christmas story, "The Shepherd" that I've enjoyed for years

They tell it, the voice is of Allen Sinclair, a long-beloved announcer on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) who later retired and departed this earth some time ago, each Christmas eve, but it was on Friday evening, this year, as the program "As It Happens" that carries it is Mon - Fri evenings.

I've listened for years, cry every time, and this year they had a number of people call in to give their reactions to it.

Actually, I believe it might be Alan Maitland, or at least the version I listen to is. Wonderful story! Thanks for reminding me.

For the beanies, if they are ribbed at the edge, I would go with the rib cable cast on. There is a video showing how to do it. The lady in the video is a thrower, but you could do it in continental or combination just as easily. It makes a very nice edge. http://www.keep-on-knitting.com/rib-cable-cast-on.html Here is great bind-off for a shawl or scarf. It is stretchy and pretty. I am so glad you are all enjoying your cards! Cheryl, I'm sorry to hear about your hand and cast. I have two that I have seen. Any others are at the post office. Maybe when I pick up Mom for the day, we will take a ride and make a stop to empty the box! When I first started participating in this, DH wouldn't let me use our home address, and we had opened a P O Box for ebay use, so that is what I use. This time of year it would be so easy to just walk out to the mail box...... But I do post here when we are taking a trip some times, so I guess it's a good idea to keep using the PO Box. I'm here alone after all the festivities and many people chattering etc. and I opened your post. I clicked on the reading and shut my eyes and covered them and went on an amazing journey that had me right beside the pilot in body and mind. What a talented writer and the narrator held me right to the last word. I've saved this and going to play it every year too but, for now, I have just forwarded the site to all my family and friends. Thank you soooo much. I loved it. BTW, from a spiritual point of view, we all know who helped him.

Allan Maitland it was ... I suspected when I wrote it that I was wrong.

I think that they said that the story was set around 1953 ... and the writing in 1974.

My memory ain't what it used to be.
