Last night I went to the botanical garden light show - it's their first time doing this.

As angels go, she is pretty pathetic, but this is the one that has topped our tree for 56 years. She and the stars around her were attached to the bow on my very first Christmas present from the man I would marry in 6 months. The large yellow star is one of many ultra light tree decorations that daughters made in 1981 with 'Shrinky Dinks' for a Norfolk Island Pine that was our tree for several years.

That's a female you can see some of the red seeds that come from the inside and fall to the ground and make baby sago palms. Extremely poisonous plant by the way will kill a dog with in minutes if they chew on it. I have a huge one I really want to get rid of to close to the driveway.

My husband picked up this stray about a month ago that was in danger of being hit by a car on a busy main street. It was dark out and with her color, she was impossible to see. We kept her over the weekend and posted her info on flyers and a couple of FB pages, but no one claimed her. We can't have a pet at this time in our lives, so I took her to a local no kill shelter. It broke my heart to do that and I felt so bad leaving her there, but at least she was out of the cold, wet weather, was no longer hungry and was safe from harm. If things were different, I would have kept her in a heartbeat. She was the sweetest little thing and managed to wiggle her way into my heart during the short time we had her. I hope she finds/found a good home.

casey - I would love to do a walk like that. This inspires me to suggest this to our local arboretum/gardens. What a lot of work though. They may suggest right back that I volunteer to help. lol

Edited to add that I just heard back from a friend who works at the arboretum. I sent the photo in your post casey and she says she will mention it to staff!

The gardens have been transformed into a winter wonderland - beautiful!

Annie, the only thing better than chocolate would be gold covered chocolate - almost too pretty to eat!

Igmd, I love how the birds tails can be seen poking out from under the snow covered shelter of the feeders. I'm sure the birds appreciate it!

Looks inviting, Jim. Street food is the best and I think one of the best ways to experience local food as well. It hasn't been all prettied up for the tourists and is the real deal.

Lupini Park gardens in Bangkok, Thailand:

The park has it's own greenhouses. The public is not allowed in here and that guy glaring at the camera had just finished yelling at me in Thai because I had stopped at the gate. I guess he thought I was going to come in.
