Monicakm, that beaded one WAS one I briefly looked at, but my bathroom is more traditional. If I had contemporary that would definitely be one on my short list...I loved it. I saw it in one of the wallpaper books from an Interior Designer (ID). Thought it could be used almost like a backsplash. It was really gorgeous. The wallpaper I am considering is from the Candice Olson Dimensional Surfaces Book. The glass bead design is called Script Geo $130/roll. You can't tell by the picture, but the background has a beautiful sheen and the glass bead design is raised off the paper. The one with a faint scroll design with a grasscloth type weave is called Filigree on Sisal $140/roll. Those are retail prices, but the Interior Designer can get it for much less.

The frustrating thing about show houses is that often the various companies -- textiles, wallpapers, flooring, furnishings, lighting etc -- provide their products for free in exchange for the publicity. If you can generate a "WOW" moment the way the laundry room walls clearly do, so much the better. So there are usually a lot of elements that are beyond mere mortals in a show house : ) . The bigger and better the show house, the more keen big companies are to participate, and in this case it was the 40th anniversary of the San Francisco Decorator Showcase with a Classical Revival mansion in Pacific Heights, and as always raising funds for San Francisco University High School’s financial aid program, which has received more than $14 million from the showcase over the years. And not so coincidentally perhaps, de Gournay had, just before the showcase, opened a shop on Presidio Heights. They also provided the hand-embroidered wallpaper for the showcase's living room. By the way, I'm reminded of the Chinoiserie laundry room the blogger for Chinoiserie Chic did for the One Room Challenge several years ago. I thought you might enjoy it, DK, http://www.chinoiseriechic.net/2013/10/one-room-challenge-laundry-room.html

I also fell in love with the DeGourney wall paper and even had my designer get a quote from the company which was gaspingly expensive - about $18,000 for a very small amount of paper. I had my heart set on using it for my bathrooms and I located a company on Etsy which does hand painted silk wallpaper. They were great to work with - fully custom as my designer sent her design sketches for the paper. I wanted some peacocks incorporated. And obviously all of the panels have to be fully customized in terms of working with my various heights (floor to ceiling in one accent bedroom wall versus shorter panels in the bathrooms since they were above the tiles). The company's owner (Lily) was great to work with and everything went smoothly. The wallpaper was beautiful and completely in accordance with the approved designs and templates. I ordered the silk samples to choose the background and all of the design sketches and templates were sent and approved before work was started on my paper. It is a very responsive and very professional company. The quality of my snaps isn't great - the blue in the photo is looks faded and in real life is a much pretty less drab blue. If my handpainted wallpaper isn't quite as beautiful as the $18,000 DeGourney so be it as it is quite beautiful enough for me. My designer works with very high end stuff and was very impressed by the quality. My paper wasn't cheap as it still came to over $3000 for a relatively small amount of paper. And add to that the services of a really skilled wallpaper hanger because hanging paper like this which is not easy - each panel went in a specific place on the wall - no margin of errors.
