Where to place Florence Bower's Pink Tea?
Comments (2)I would think that either location should work. I have a LARGE tea rose planted next to the house up here in Western Washington where it was plenty happy for years. The Japanese Maples planted to the South of it have grown to the point of shading it most of the afternoon and it stills grows and blooms well. It gets maybe 6 hours a day of sun split between morning and afternoon....See More"Florence Bowers Pink Tea"
Comments (18)Yes--same delicious earthy aroma as 'Mrs. B.R. Cant'. My 'Florence Bowers' is straight ahead outside my bedroom window, so is among the first roses I see every morning. It's only a few years old, but has taken hold well, and gives every appearance of having a bright future ahead of it. I'm as yet undecided what it might be. In so many ways, it seems "Tea"; but I've never seen a Tea with such thin, wiry, lithe branches. My current theory is that it's a cross between Tea and . . . something . . ....See MoreNeed help with Florence Bower's Pink Tea
Comments (6)How large is your Florence Bowers, humble? Florence blooms on new growth, so if your "landscapers" were cutting off all the new growth, that could explain the lack of bloom. (But, she could also just be a young plant. Mine, the first year or two in the ground, could only manage two flushes a season, barely. Now she blooms more, maybe four flushes per season, at 4 years in the ground-- in bloom right now, as a matter of fact -- and she is becoming a VERY vigorous plant.) So, she is a strong grower and I think probably not likely to be destroyed even by those heathens. I wouldn't even let the likes of those kind of guys on my property, let alone touch my roses......See MoreFlorence Bower's Pink Tea
Comments (14)It will be wonderful, and reassuring, when FBPT is more widely available in commerce. At least now there is one U.S. source for this worthy rose. I agree with you, Anita, about Phil Edinger's, which I have, too. It is a constant bloomer and climbs nicely; not quite as rampant as FBPT, though it's also not in quite as good a spot. It, unfortunately, is still unavailable in commerce in the U.S. since Vintage closed, though it is listed as available in Europe (La Roseraie Du Désert). Phil Edinger's noisette:...See Morehumble5zone9atx
