iRobot Roomba anyone?
Comments (28)schoolhouse - Roomba does his thing around furniture or under it it it's raised high enough....think dust bunnies under the bedframe...oh yeah. Around the living room couch, he'll run a line along the couch and hugs it; still some attention is necessary just under the couch where the Roomba doesn't quite reach with his rotating arm. A Roomba (for me at least) isn't a complete replacement of a regular vac., but it keeps the "core" of the room clean and because it's clean, the edges seem to need less of attention too. Some areas that get missed - 90 degree corners don't get Roomba love. Chairs that have too narrow of a base, but ours can usually get in between the legs. Fringe on throw rugs can be a challenge, so those you would need to take up, but ones without fringe are usually not a problem. Our hearth isn't raised for the fireplace and has only a small strip between the hardwood and the slate and I don't really like him getting into the fireplace, so I'll usually set the little "rope off" area that comes with him to keep him from venturing over there and then just supervise him for a few places where I know he tends to get in trouble. Oh, and one of my Roomba's favorite tricks of all is to hide from me right in the middle under the king sized bed (if his battery dies before he's all done)...See Morerobotic vacuum?
Comments (23)My DH bought me one for my birthday (2?) years ago..He purchased it from Roomba and it was the 590? series. It came with a programable thing and several towers. He paid nearly $500 for it. The first few months, it had numerous problems (cant remember all of them but in general the brushes had issues and the battery would not hold a charge, also it would crash into the furniture when it was supposed to have sensors etc to avoid that. It was under warranty (very very limited warranty time wise) but they sent one part of the main brush thingie and a new battery. not too much later, something else went wrong with it, but now it was no longer under warranty so I had to purchase replacement parts. After talking to the customer service people, she conveyed that when the brush housing stopped working the first time or had issues, that the whole thing should have been replaced because by now it was completely damaged (so the replacement part was only a $40 bandaid) somehow, she managed to get permission to send me a whole new unit. This "NEW" unit would barely clean one room before pooping out. (the other one was designed to clean up to 3 rooms in one run and it usually came close unless I had too many obstacles for it). It is now not being used at all. I will say when it was working that it was handy for pet hair (houseful of cats and dogs) but it always had trouble transitioning from hardwood floors to rugs, and as such would half way "clean" itself off on its way up and over the edge of the rugs, leaving clumps of cat fur behind. If I had to do it over again, I would absolutely NOT spend $500 on it, but IF I could have gotten a decent one second hand, then I'd probably use it every now and then. I dont know if it was this forum or elsewhere but this topic has been discussed before and I do recall that someone had purchased one from some particular place that offered a lifetime warranty, knowing the multiple issues mine has always had, I'd DEFINITELY buy it from them over any other vendor, if I had a do over. I do not recall the place though....See MoreDo you have a rototic vacuum cleaner and how do you like it
Comments (15)This is what mine looks like. It's a year or so old. It actually holds quite a bit of debris in the container. The filters are very nice and easy to use. I did a lot of research before choosing it. I watched some very good you tube videos comparisons of it and roomba and a few others. By the way it has never got stuck it can work it's way out of tight spots. I don't leave any loose throw rugs out it could suck up. It does not go in random movements like the roomba it goes in a straight line just like you would vacuum. It's basically like a vacuum with out the upright handle. So on carpet you can see the path just like as if you had vacuumed it....See MoreWho hasn't watched Jeopardy tonight?
Comments (44)"Plus the card James's daughter made for him seemed to really touch him. I wonder if James had planned to leave? Was the card a "thank you, and goodbye" gesture?" No, James didn't plan to leave, and the card wasn't a "thank you, and goodbye" gesture. They tape 5 episodes in a day, two days a week. Some reports say they tape two days every other week, other reports say they tape two days each week for a set number of weeks before taking a hiatus. Reports consistently say there are a total of 46 taping days each year (for the past 30 years). James was on for 32 games, which would be, at most, 8 taping days (that would work out to be his first show was the 5th show taped on day 2 of that week's taping; then 30 shows over two days the next 3 taping weeks; then the 1st show taped on the first day of taping his final week of taping. I've seen things that say his first taping day was February 5th, and last night's show was taped on March 12th. Alex announced his cancer diagnosis on March 6th, so James gave him the card that his daughter had made less than one week later - on the first day of taping following the announcement....See More5birdy
