Beverage Center - Do any of them not suck?
Comments (35)Our brand new SubZero beverage unit is horrendously noisy. (Dealer installed last week.) I may start saving or appropriating $$$ from other remodel funds put aside in order to replace with another brand. It is that bad, the racket it makes. Price, at least in this case, is not always a guarantee of low noise levels... Looks-wise the SZ is gorgeous but wow, IMO a huge mistake I made when I purchased. We have one of their fridge/freezer units, installed last year, and love it. But that undercounter unit? A total thumbs down from our house. I can hear it running from other rooms, it's that loud. To the OP: best wishes!! I hope you find something great! The idea is wonderful, to have the little fridge under a counter for extras, drinks, whatever. Good luck to you....See MoreQuestion about Perlick C-series compare to Signature Series
Comments (6)Phil, our wine drinking/storing is much like yours. We rarely store any for the long haul. We purchased one of the C-series wine reserves (24" wide to hold 40-45 bottles) a couple of months ago. We had wanted the Signature series because of its variable speed compressor -- which is supposed to do a better job of holding the temp and is quieter. But we got a good deal on the C-series. It's done a fine job of keeping wine at the desired temperature. We do hear the compressor when it starts up (something that is supposed to be absent from the Signature Series). BUT, the wine reserve is in a hallway around the corner from the family room/kitchen/dining room, so we don't always hear it. Having said that, we knew we were getting the "noisier" version. And the sound is relative: for example, the refrig makes more noise when its compressor starts up; I find the fan on the TV more annoying! So, it probably depends where you are going to put the wine reserve whether the extra cost is worth it. But as far as storing wine, we've been quite happy with the C-Series....See MoreWine Cooler that is not loud!
Comments (33)I never did get a response to my post above but now understand that in fact Marvel makes models for Viking and not the reverse. My main reason for posting though is to say that we went with the Marvel. It was delivered last week and installed a few days ago and you wouldn't even know it was running. Not sure where all the comments about it being noisy are coming from. Maybe there are a few lemons out there but after lurking for a while in several of the forums it's clear there is some deliberate slamming of products, often by the same people over and over again. Such incredible negative energy, especially in the Laundry forum. I find it hard to believe people can be that passionate over a fridge or washer. I guess I'm saying the info here can be helpful but must sometimes be weighed carefully. PS-My granite broke during install yesterday, my fridge has been missing in action for weeks now and the drywall guy's tools have found a home here but we haven't seen him for 2 weeks. I share the pain many of you are going through....See Moresearch for quiet refrigerator continues, returning Kenmore Elite
Comments (43)I got a Whirlpool 33 inch wide bottom load freezer /fridge at my new build about 2 months ago. My GC plugged it in immediately, since it was horrendously hot and he wanted to keep some cool water available (and his diabetes meds safely chilled). I was up there earlier today and the item has now been moved to its permanent location. It has been running for two months, and yes, I said, go run it.... even though it is not remotely containing enough items (and nothing at all in the freezer compartment) -- when I was there today it was so silent I had to open both doors to see that it was actually chilling and freezing in the respective compartments. I was at my build for about 2 hours and when it kicked "on" -- no apparent sounds! (Oh, yes, now that it is properly situated, I'm bringing up a bunch of frozen goods next visit so it can do its thing energy-efficiently -- and so I can defrost and shut down my stand-alone freezer I have back here at my original home... )...See MoreSage Daniels
