I'd like to know too, so will be watching this thread for updates. I've tried a lot of long-lasting lipsticks, but all of them have been very drying.

I'd also like to find a wonderful lip gloss. It doesn't have to last, as I know they aren't formulated to do so, but seems like finding the perfect tinted lip gloss is really difficult for me. They're either too dark or too - I dunno, babyish? I want shine in a beautiful neutral that is more or less lip-colored.

Very long lasting and not drying, unlike any other lipstick I've used.

I've heard good things about the Revlon lipstick mentioned but haven't tried it yet. I have tried the 'Meet Matt Hughes' (sold on Amazon). It feels dry at first when applied but I don't notice it after it dries.

Ida, I use Bobbi Brown lip gloss in Nude. It seems to stay on really well for me. It comes in other colors, but I prefer a neutral lip color for just swiping on and it's a nice pink-brown that I think anyone could wear. A tube lasts a long time for me.

I am also waiting for some good recommendations. I use L'Oreal lipsticks, but I am an admitted lip-gnawer (not constantly, but too much) and would love something that held up a bit better.

Thanks, OP. My only experience with Bobbi Brown is the mascara, which I really like. I'll check out that lip gloss!

My favorite as of today is the L'Oreal LA Lacque, shiny full coverage and it last! I also like Mally lipstick, Plump Pink is a great color it matches my lips perfect so I kinda use it for special occasions.

I have an Urban Decay glossy lipstick from their 'Sheer Revolution' line that I absolutely love - the color is Sheer Rapture. I can't remember the last time I actually used a lipstick down to the very bottom. Of course it now appears to be discontinued. Frustrating. I'll have to spend some time on their website to see what they've replaced it with.

I wear a few NARS colors that hold up okay. Most of the time, I wear a Neutrogena lip gloss (Glow #70) topped by Clinique Black Honey.

Years ago, I wore the Black Honey and liked it. Then some how I got out of the habit and started wearing Glow. When I recently rediscovered BH, their formula or my coloring must have changed because it was too dark on me and drying.

I complimented a friend on her lips and she said she layers two different colors and I thought Aha! So now I do Glow and top it with BH. My lips don't feel dried out and I'm satisfied with the color. I may be too shiny and glossy for whatever the latest trends may be, or my age, but meh, I'm happy so I'll continue this at least until I run out of product.

HH I like BH too. I used to always get the "pot" form but now there is a stick. Or maybe there's both? I haven't bought any in a while. I like Clinique's chubby sticks also.

I'm going to try that lipstick suggested above. Muse (I think) would be perfect for me. I'm fair with dark hair and dark eyes and a bright pink with blue undertones is my best lip color.

Black Honey uses to be my go-to lip gloss. I just wish they'd make it in some kind of longer lasting lipstick. The gloss just doesn't last long on me.

My lastest lipstick purchase is from Chanel (I blame Mtn and Funky for turning me onto Chanel, BTW). I can't remember what it's called, but it has the lip color on one end of the tube and a gloss on the other. You apply the color and wait a few seconds to let it "set." Then apply the gloss on top. I knew it was going to be long lasting when the salesperson had a hard time removing it when we were trying a few different colors! I bought it in two colors -- an everyday neutral and a brighter color for evening (actually I find the latter too bright so I've hardly used it).

I have a couple of the Clinique chubby sticks too. They're easy to use, not drying, but for me, not very long lasting.

Hm, I used to have one of those Revlon lipsticks pictured above, too, and I liked it. I think I lost it!

Lynn, I'm a lip gnawer too! I wasn't sure what to call it, so thanks. I know that's my main problem in not getting lip color to last.

I always outline my lips and then fill them in, using a neutral pinky/brown Clinique pencil. I blot it and then let it set while I do the rest of my makeup. It does feel dry with just the pencil but I always have something moist, with a subtle shine on top (usually good old Bonne Bell Dr. Pepper lip smacker). Occasionally I reapply the pencil after lunch but it lasts most of the day. I bet I've bought thousands of tubes of Dr. Pepper lip smacker. To me, it's the perfect hint of color and shine.

I haven't tried that one Sue.. I rarely wear lipstick but I think I'll give it a try. I prefer gloss and for that I wear chanel glossimer (prefer) or rouge allure gloss. Just today I looked in my purse and thought I could open a gloss stand-- or a kissing booth! I had 6 glossimers, 1 rouge allure gloss and 2 burts bees glosses. Ridic!

Ida, from what I've seen of your photos, I think you will find some great nudes for your coloring at chanel-- and also a few with a flirty edge.

Ida -- burts bees has some tinted lip glosses (can find them at CVS or Target) that have enough color to give you a boost but they're natural. I always have one in my car for the quick application when I can't be bothered with real lipstick.

I do the same, Sue!! There's always one in the car.. I like the shimmer in champagne (back row second from the right.. probably too light and precious for my age)

I really like Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks but they stopped making my favorite color a couple years ago :( Stays on and isn't bad about changing color on me. Does that happen to anyone else? I've been wearing lip gloss more often tho and my favorites are Chanel and L'Oreal. Chanel Levres Scintillantes and Revlon 8hr Infallible Pro Gloss. The Revlon stays on longer and isn't super shiny. Maybelline makes a "Super Stay 24 Color". You put the lip stick/gloss on first, let it dry and then apply the clear gloss. The color stays on forEVER. You'll have to reapply the gloss. I started to look at the Burt's Bees today but didn't have time.

The mention of Bonne Bell Dr. Pepper Lipsmacker sure brought back some memories! I used to get those in my stocking on Christmas morning when I was much younger.

Black Honey by Clinique! OMG I used that too. Do they still make it? I used it in college. I think the darker colors were in vogue.

I remain a Chanel devotee, but they really have many different types of lipstick depending on preference. My favorite for summer was a rather sheer formulation ... a bit of shine, not opaque but more than just gloss. It is called Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur. Below:

All that said, this formulation is less long lasting than most Chanels. I think anytime you have shine you have less durability, but it does stain your lips a bit like all Chanel so you don't look too wan when it wears off. I think it feels great, love the product.

OTOH, I needed a red lipstick for a particular purpose, and opted for one by Covergirl Outlast. Red Rogue. I don't like the feel, but it sure did last. And a bargain!

I prefer really classic colors in a matte or semi matte finish (which tend to wear far better than glosses,) and have found Besame to be excellent lipsticks. Also, I know this is obvious but staying well hydrated keeps your lips looking good- they're one of the first areas to show dehydration.

I love the light touch of the rouge coco shine, mtn.. it is the perfect weight for summer! But I find it just doesn't last on me-- maybe because I wear the lightest of shades? (48, 49, 54 would be my colors)

Perhaps it's time I grow up and wear some adult colors.

Yes, Funky, it does not last as well as other Chanels, but it does stain your lips which helps. And for summer especially, I hate the look of being over-lipsticked so I choose the Rouge Coco Shine. I think it's more youthful, maybe?

It's by far my favorite lipstick formula for feel and moisture. I know the rouge collections are known for lasting color.. so it really must be the fact that I wear such light colors.

I think any shiny lipstick will not wear as well as any matte. That said, I think you have just talked yourself into buying a new Rouge coco Shine!

A lot of the lipsticks/balms mentioned are not very long lasting. I'd also like to mention that although the Clinique Black Honey LOOKS almost black, it is a very light formula more like a balm and only gives the lips a lovely natural color and is definitely NOT long lasting. Maybe an hour and it's gone. I wish I could find a color as complimentary to my complexion as the BH color that was longer lasting.

Arkansas, have you ever tried using a pencil to outline and then fill in your lips followed by the BH? You still have to reapply the BH but the pencil keeps some color on your lips for most of the day.

Well, yesterday while I was out running errands, I picked up Burt's Bees 8-Hour Tinted Lip Balm in Rose and a tube of the Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in #047 Wardrobe. Weird name for a lipstick, but so far I really like them both. Thanks again for this timely thread, Sas!

Lynn, glad to hear you like it. Agree, the names are weird; I just remember the # it's so much easier to read on the tube.

I have been having fun with the Sephora lipstick try on feature on their website. It won't tell you which brand will last longest but it did help me finally narrow down which shades look best on me.

Does anyone have any cruelty free lipstick or tint recommendations?

The Urban Decay products I mentioned above are vegan (cruelty free cosmetics are non-negotiable for me). I did eventually find the lipstick I love, turns out it's not discontinued and my colour is still available. It seems most all of the UD lipsticks are now called 'Vice', and they come in 100s of colours and finishes. Check out the High Shine Finish. I have Sheer Rapture and I remember also loving the sample of Sheer Liar (sold out).
