Comments (26)esteban if you do have java on your pc you need to make absolutely sure you are keeping it updated to the latest version and have removed all the old versions, most of the worst infections these days are coming through java vulnerabilities. To update java go to control panel select java, open the update tab and select to update now. To make sure all old versions are removed use the free javara tool. JavaRa to make sure all of your items are updated so you are not open to infections you can scan your pc with this secunia tool. Comments (14)These homes don't have basements and mine only has a carport. And the original laundry rooms were outside, so people looking in this neighborhood are looking for remodels that have joined the laundry room to the main house. It's like another room, at 9 x 10 with a closet and window! My realtor said many people end up using it as a home office as well, and mine is the perfect size. And it's the most cheerful laundry room I've seen, with soft yellow walls and white accents! LOL I do have a pool, but it's not considered a selling feature in my area, especially not an old one like mine. Major features like # rooms, pool, parking, lot size are all listed in the bottom features of the MLS listing. This is just the additional description that the feature list doesn't cover. So you really think the pottery barn is a no-go? It's not the furnishings, it's the actual style of the interior. Everything is in PB colors, walls, hardware, beadboard, etc. Seems like ALL the remodels these days are going for the PB look because that's what the majority of the 20 & 30 somthing crowd goes for. Mine is a large family home in a family area, so it's very unlikely a couple over 40 will buy it. My realtor is concerned (as am I) about staying realistic in the ad and not puffing it up to something it's not. It does need some work, not right away (unless you want everything new or just so), but eventually. Same with the backyard. Things are -old- and obviously starting to wear out in the back. I've looked at so many home that describe this AWESOME house and you get there and it's a dump. :(...See MoreDid your new/updated kitchen help you keep it cleaner/tidier?
Comments (10)I'm pre-reno still, but in my former kitchen, even though it was super tiny, I had PLACES for things to go, even if it meant that the crockpot went above the fridge cabinet, it still had a place that it could reside. In the current kitchen...no proper places for anything. It's infuriating. My pots and pans have to go in a corner cabinet and everything goes everywhere when I try to get one thing. So, I've taken to leaving my "daily use" pots and pans on the counter. The weekly use or bi-weekly use ones usually get put away. And because I dislike it so much, it's kind of a dumping ground for mail and so on. We have no place for recyclables, so those sit on the ground next to the garbage or on the counter until we remember to take them out when we head outside. Even though my former kitchen was smaller, it was much better planned (surprisingly for a builder layout) and had places for things to go and it was far easier to cook in and clean up. As for marble. I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully you got honed so that you won't have a lot of etching show. Will it stain? It probably will at some point. Some time you will be at that point where you *should* reseal it and you won't have gotten around to it. And someone will spill red wine. It'll happen. At some point. But Europeans have been using marble for ages and ages and they live with it. Your first stain will kill you. After that, it will begin the process of turning into "patina" and memories of your years with it. Honestly, if I could find a piece of marble countertop that has been well loved for about 30 years so that the first stain and etch wouldn't be mine, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. Or if my husband weren't as, ummm....let's say "detail oriented" to remain positive...I would go for marble. He would never forgive/forget the first mark be it that he made it or I did. So, for us, marble isn't a choice. But, if you can look at your marble as inevitably getting signs of being loved, you should be happy with it. :)...See MoreBook related, choice for dictionary and theasarus
Comments (7)My only suggestion would be that you select paperbacks vs. hardcovers for ease of use and portability. Kids do like to take the path of least resistance :) I still have my Websters Collegiate Dictionary (9th edition - given to me at my first "real" writing job) and a worn-to-pieces paperback Rogets (vintage 1970-something), both of which I still use. I don't want to discourage you at all because I totally agree with your position on books vs. the internet, but I can tell you that my kids (15 and 19) have never opened either the dictionary or the thesaurus I gave them, for them it's all online. Sad, really!...See Morenanny98
