tiny brown insects Could be spider mites/russet mites or aphids. (the dew you're describing suggests to aphids to me, though) Suggest you go here and look at the pics of Foliage Pests. Not sure about the "fungus" though based on your limited description (tiny black spots). You might want to go to the Tomato Problem Solver (link at bottom of this post), to see if that doesn't give you some help. If you could post a picture, that's helpful. tops of the plants are also curling. Could be mosaic virus, or curly top -- or could be related to the aphids (if that's what you have). Leaf curling can also be caused by environmental stress, and may not be a major cause for concern. So, have a look at some of the sites I've linked to. Yes, Monikka and Welcome here! Those appear to be the same leaf miners from our American leaf miner genus here. They are the scourge of my newly hardening transplants too and can completely destroy the vigor of a plant here. -Do not spray the plants with an insecticide - leaf miners usually multiply when you do because they are relatively protected and the bugs that eat them are killed. -Use your thumb and forefinger on each side of the leaf to crush them in their mine. Apply pressure to as small of an area possible as you will also be killing a little of the leaf when you do that, but on balance you will save all the rest. -Buy yellow trap cards (link) or make them (Link ones are crazy expensive price, try eBay, etc). Those leaf miners you have are attracted to yellow and the cards are buttered with a very persistent sticky substance. The adult flies when they come to lay eggs into the leaves go land on the yellow card first. If it is sticky, they get stuck like in amber. -I thought it was too late to start tomatoes in Austria now and get ripe tomatoes before cold temperatures start, were did you get the transplants? PS the dark brown may be a type of mold but it is soon to say. Seeing it on the stem is unnerving. Try to water roots only and not let the plant get water on the leaves or stem whenever possible. It could be something bad but time will tell and there isn't much else you can do. The spots on the leaf and browning on the stem could be bacterial speck or one of those like it, but that you will soon see as it develops more, if that happens. I hope all turns out ok! Cheers PC

Pls say what it means: "was a difficult plant for me to acquire"? Did you ask the Supplier for a refund? It's pretty appropriate. In 20 yrs. of growing Hoyas, I've never seen this & STRONGLY suggest you get rid of it. Your comment: "you won’t hang on to it forever" is irrelevant as contagion from an infected plant can be quick; it needs no time at all. Sorry.

Looks just fine to me. Some leaves are imperfect - can be anything from a blemish due to some slight injury from when the leaf was forming to pocking from overwatering, mars from too much sun, and on and on. I don't think you have anything to worry about, Denise in Omaha
