Alternative edgings for gardens...inspire me...what do you use
Comments (7)I've only used a lawn edger to divide the beds from my lawn, but I'm not satisfied with the looks. It's well sunked down to the lawn but if I cover it up with mulch, the grass on the other side escapes into the beds. I'm actually considering burying pavers down to the lawn edge. Syseeds, have you tried sinking the bricks down with the smooth edge facing up? If you like the paver look but don't have the purse for it, perhaps this is another way of achieving that look. I like the idea of reclaimed bricks for this purpose. In anycase at HD - there are pavers costing some 56 cents a piece. You could interspace new pavers with the old bricks. The most unique edger I've seen - was a row of wine bottles sunked down to the ground. - However it is a very rustic effect. Or the use of cut logs - again sunked down deept. - very rustic once more. -- It's not my personal taste. Use cheap terracotta pots - sunked down and planted with annuals. - problem is cheap terracotta will not last the winter. Use large and flat rocks for a rustic effect. You could also over plant it with thyme to soften. - I think this would be nice but again it's to your personal taste....See MoreOakley! You need to post that pic here...
Comments (19)Thanks again, everyone! Irish, when they were pregnant, they chose the name Henry almost immediately. I wasn't sure about the name, too old fashioned. Then we started calling him Henry while still in the womb and by the time he was born, Henry fit him to a T! Sometimes we call him Hank....See MoreWhat size do you think is this island from my inspiration photo?
Comments (4)Mock it up and see. If you can reach to the center and swipe something 30" away, then it's fine. I'd personally find the 5' depth OK, (long arms) but if it were 6' square, that'd be out of my comfort zone....See MoreShoulder....da** you Oakley! ;-)
Comments (30)Hi Guys! * Yaya- I see the P.A. I saw on Jan 3 on Feb 2 I think. I'll ask about that shot(s)! What types of shots are there for shoulders? B4 my new knee in Sept. '14, I had that $1,000 Synvisc shot that Feb. Didn't really do much, but we knew going in that it was a crapshoot. * Msmeow- OH NO!! Yikes....that sounds painful! I mentioned when my injury happened, I was throwing my arms out to the side to keep from falling. That's when I got shot.........in my shoulder.... ;-) Sure felt like it anyway! My PT guy says he'd like for me to avoid injections, since they'll just mask what's really going on. I know that makes sense, but...... I'll keep doing my shoulder/back exercises, since they'll strengthen/support the whole shoulder mechanism, & its operation. Along those lines, it'll help keep an upright posture. I don't wanna turn into the letter "C" like SO many people do, just cuz they never learned how to (or cared??) do simple exercises!!!!! * Oakley- Yes, keeping the shoulders DOWN AND BACK when moving thru an exercise motion keeps the vulnerable "Cuff" muscles & tendons from hitting the Acromio-Clavicular (AC) Joint just above it. That causes SO many issues/problems. >>> The stronger your back & shoulder-blade muscles are, the better your shoulder can handle a load. So many of us have such weak back muscles, because they're never used!! Ever hear the word "Atrophy"?! SQUEEZE THAT EGG ON YOUR SPINE!! ;-) Faron...See MoreFaron79
