xtal
This will be a negative for me experience. I was approached by xtal to trade some crinum bulbs for 2-3 crinum americanum that I had posted a picture of, these were not on my swap page nor had I posted that I had spares to trade. I had no place to plant sun loving crinums, so offered a few bulbs free for postage. It took 35 private messages through Houzz to arrange the trade, far too many for my preference. I sent the bulbs before securing payment since I recognized her from the Texas Gardening forum and knew that she pops up now and then offering seeds or plants for trade. She sent a $10.00 check on $7.65 postage which seemed generous. The check unfortunately was written on a closed account, she stated that she had grabbed the wrong checkbook from the drawer. I asked for a money order to cover the postage plus the $4. that my bank charged. She sent another check, but it did clear.
I suppose that if I were a more patient person I would have considered it a good trade, but all of the messages back and forth just seemed like a huge hassle to me. If you want to get plants for postage, just give me your mailing address and send the postage!!!
I won't do this again.
