Nikko blue droops every day - water every day?
Comments (1)Yes, do not water so often as this can end up causing root rot. Just be aware that large leaf plants like hydrangeas will wilt during the first summer (or two) as the plants are not established. Established plants will still wilt during the summer but not as bad as in the first summer or two. They recover by nighttime on their own. What to do: If you see extreme wilting then water immediately. Otherwise, check the soil moisture by inserting a finger into the soil to a depth of 3-4". If the soil is almost dry or dry, water. If the soil is moist or wet then postpone any action until next morning. If still wilted in the morning, add 1/2g of water for a small shrub. Having a lot of mulch helps conserve moisture so make sure that the plant always has 3-4" of any type of acidic mulch. When watering, water early in the morning & water the soil -not the leaves- from the root ball outwards towards the drip line....See Morefirst adventures in Tennesse gardening
Comments (8)We moved to Chattanooga in 2008 and lived in an apartment for a year or so until we could have a look around. A year later we found a house in a suburb of Chattanooga named Flintstone, Georgia which is a very close drive to downtown Chattanooga and very affordable housing. By the way, I have also lived in Daphne and Fairhope, Alabama in 1995-1997. We didn't grown things there except on the deck of our apartment in Daphne where we won "Terrace of the Month" - lol. It depends on your yard around here as the area is very diverse with mountains, hills and valleys. Comments (26)The 3 colors I don't have many of. I have Joan Senior for a white, but Avedon's picture is so good I'll let it represent mine too. Blue? Nothing even close. Red? Not many of those either, but I do have a few I really like such as Wayah Valley by Dale Hensley. Big red orange blooms that are colorfast considering our 100 degree days this year. Nothing overly fancy just a good solid bloom that performs well here....Maryl Wayah Valley...See MorePaint looks blue in natural light during the day!
Comments (49)If you prime and paint a piece of sheetrock to test the colors you will have to prime your walls before painting them to have the same results on you walls. You can spend a lot of time talking to different people about color choices, but without actually being in your space we can only give you suggestions. I know buying samples sounds like a lot of wasted money. But buying 5-6 or more gallons of paint, paying someone to do the work, then you not being satisfied is a bigger waste (been there done that). Now I buy samples. The amount of light in an area, furniture colors, window treatment colors will likely change how the paint looks. If you are painting several different rooms you may have to use more than one color. Good luck with your project....See Morekentrees12
