Odd Q. about shower grab bars

I have safety grab bars in my shower. They're white metal, perhaps 3" round, very plain -- essentially big staple shapes. Solidly attached. They're not much to look at, but if I were handicapped, they'd definitely do their job.

However, I hate one thing about them: Water runs around to the bottom of the round bars and "drips" slowly -- I don't know why it doesn't all just fall off at once, but it doesn't -- and the result of slow drip /standing water is a build up of nasty mold on the underside of the grab bars. Right now my shower's over-due for a cleaning (yeah, housecleaning, not the greatest joy in my life), and the underside of the grab bars is a narrow solid line of black. ICK.

Fortunately, I'm not always this behind on my cleaning, but I wonder if I can avoid this problem by choosing a different shape /brand /material /style of grab bar for our new house?
