Geez, I'm hopeless today. I just accidentally closed my browser and lost a nice post with links and more info. Overwatering issues are the most common reason people come here for help, so learning how and when to water is critical. The best way to know whether a plant needs water is to push a sharpened dowel, wooden skewer, or disposable chopstick all the way through the soil to the bottom of the pot, and watering only when the dowel comes out dry to the touch. The next thing is controlling soil moisture with your choice of soil. Check out info in the links for info about 5:1:1 mix, which works well in houseplants. It needs watering more often than MG, but that's a good thing, because it provides a moist (not wet) environment for the roots, with lots of aeration so the roots can get oxygen from the air. This isn't a great time of year to do a full repot, because it's better to stress plants when there's ample sunlight to help them recover, but doing it now might be the best option, especially for the peace lily. The pachira might be able to wait until June if it's in good shape now, especially if you use 'ballast' to replace some of the soil at the bottom of the pot. I did this last fall with a sad plant that I had just put in an oversized pot of MGMC, and it recovered quickly and was in really decent shape by late spring. Give us more info and some photos that show the peace lily's condition, and what the root system looked like when you replanted it, because it sounds like it needs intervention sooner rather than later. Did you let the fine roots themselves completely dry out, or just some of the soil? It's okay if the roots stayed moist, but completely dry roots are dead roots, so I'm hoping that you didn't let the whole thing get bone dry. You'll know quickly if things are bad because the whole plant will wilt, but we can cross that bridge if we come to it. Here are a few links. i had this tree for a while and I noticed that one of the bark is soft so I decided to peel it to see what was going on idk if it was a bad idea or not.. I don't know what to do should I repot it cut it ? Or take off the dead bark? & why are the little leaves like curled?? Is that normal

I adopted this money tree from a neighbour looking to get rid of it. I’m looking for tips to revitalize and care for it? Some things of note: -Leaves are brown on the end -Looks like there used to be 4 other shoots that have died. Will new shoots ever grow off them? -It’s crooked -Any other tips for sun/water/food appreciated!

Hi Carol, thanks so much for your input. Wow, your neighbor's tree made a nice recovery! The base of his tree's trunk is so big... mine is only about 1.5-inch in diameter so I wonder if mine would sprout much from the base? I live in Seattle, WA so although our days have been nice and warm (even hot on some days!) this summer, the nights are much cooler. I wasn't sure if this would be good for the plant... Maybe I should be moving it outside during daylight hours and back inside at night? I actually did cut the tree back to right above the break and the new growth pictured in my initial photo. Unfortunately the new growth fell off when I did the cutting, so I cut the tree back down even further, to about 5-ft tall. I replanted the growth and the additional trunk cutting to see if anything would grow from it. Almost 3 weeks later, I finally spotted 2 tiny green buds growing about an inch from the top of my trimmed down tree, and 1 green bud sprouting from the additional trunk cutting I re-planted. The growth that fell off when I did the first cut and re-planted looks exactly the same... I'm wondering if it's busy getting rooted and that's why the leaves haven't changed, since it's energy is busy growing under the soil rather than above. Just for the heck of it, I've attached 4 photos I took today for reference: (1) growth that I re-planted after it fell off from the main tree, (2) first bud I've noticed on the main tree, (3) second bud on the main tree, and (4) budding on the additional trunk cutting I re-planted. Hopefully if they continue to grow, I'll get a couple additional money trees from this!
