Advice on gray/greige wall color. I see purple/pink!

I was all set to paint a tiny west-facing room SW Agreeable Gray, but in certain lights it seemed to turn be pinkish/purplish (???) . Doesn't seem to make sense as it's on the more yellow/orange end, still, I think that's what I see.
Anyway, I'm now thinking BM Balboa Mist, but that, too, seems a little purple. I have Gray Owl, so could try that, but really wanted a more greige.
To make matters worse, room is currently painted a fairly bright yellow with turquoise ceiling. (I painted over the gold stars a while ago).
Advice? I am eager to paint without too much sampling. Of course, I could always go with BM Capitol White :)
I want light, bright, warm, preferably not too bluish. Also willing to ditch the rug.

Comments (66)I erroneously selected a outwardly pink color for my attic office and when I returned home that night I hated it. My painter suggested one of BMs whites with pink undertone - Atrium white - and it was perfect. Should have checked with him BEFORE he painted as he was back changing it the next day. The point I am trying to make is that if you go for a pink, the most subtle color on a strip may end up being too much. Comments (0)New construction, south facing (picture is of rear of home, N facing). Can't decide on colors. Was originally going with Amazing grey exterior (stucco), and worldly grey interior main color with Anonymous on a few contrast walls. Windows came back and they are browner than anticipated (color card at window place was a lot darker, almost black). Now afraid our greyish exterior color will clash with the brown window... Would like to stick with a grey/greige color palette, but not sure which undertone will go best. Amazing grey has the green undertone..looks like balanced beige is more brown...don't want the house to look too brown...lots of brown houses around here :-) Anew grey seems purple? the front we're using some stone accents as well. Not a lot, just a little on the garage and entry. I've attached a pic sample of that also. roof will be black For the interior, really liked the worldly grey, but the anonymous, in the "wrong" light looks so army green, considering switching to an agreeable grey/warmstone pair instead. Comments (14)Traditional color theory splits the color wheel in half. One side designated as "warm" and the other designated as "cool". Perceptually, however, it's a much different story. Color temperature is a spectrum WITHIN each hue family. So, you have have warm greens and cool greens, warm blues and cool blues, etc. Perceived color temperature comes from, well... perception. And that perception happens when you compare colors. To compare colors, you have to have context. When we order color into a color system, like the Munsell Color System, context is automatically built in. Which means we can answer questions about warm and cool on a bigger scale beyond just comparing one color to another color. If you have a Munsell hue family notation, you automatically have a read on color temperature; you can figure out which greens are warm and which ones are cool. When you organize it using a color wheel, you can draw a picture of what warm and cool looks like within each hue family vs. splitting the wheel in half and calling one side warm and the other cool. It looks like this. Which is a long way of agreeing that if you want to assign a color a label of "sage", it's possible for it to be a warm green in comparison to all the other colors organized into the Munsell Color System. Comments (26)Throwing in a vote for Ben Moore Silver Satin. We are finishing up a remodel and chose this as our "all over" color, so foyer, hallways, family room, kitchen, etc. I have it in a few north facing rooms and it's a lovely soft gray that does not look beige. My last house used Pale Oak as the main color, and I really liked that too, I just wanted to go a little more cool toned this time. Pale Oak, and I have found the same for Balboa Mist, tends to lean towards beige depending on what you pair it with. Other colors we considered that I think would work for you (all Ben Moore): Calm, Classic Gray, Gray Owl (this has strong green undertones but in my experience, a green undertone can actually warm things up in a north facing room, it seems like it shouldn't work but it does!)....See More
