Joanie, sometimes I put a cork hotpad under a vase that is the same size as the bottom of the vase, but most of the time, I find the section that holds the water is not actually the bottom of the vase-there is a thin layer of solid glass-sort of the same principle as when you use stemmed glasses and you don't need a coaster. Also, I use room temp water so it doesn't sweat at all. I have never had a problem. That said, on the really good antique pieces, I am more careful and always use a glass or cork coaster. They are always small because I like the illusion that there is nothing under them.

I've always done that with whatever kind of container, basket, or bowl I can unearth from the basement - occasionally have even used the clear plastic containers baked goods come in. When I buy my wreaths from the farmers market, they'll usually give me an assortment of their evergreen trimmings; if I need to augment that, I have a variety of yews, spruce, junipers, mugos etc. in my own yard. A block of floral foam and a new supply of candles from a craft store and I'm good to go. The floral foam holds a lot of water, so a live arrangement will generally hold its needles until I'm tired of looking at it sometime around mid-January. If you've ever been to, or have seen books on Christmas in Colonial Williamsburg, they do simply stunning extremely simple table decorations with fruit (mainly apples and oranges) and a little greenery.

Hey HIWE, I have been thinking of wood staining the desk and adding warm gold drawer bar pulls…considering these wood stains…please let me know your thoughts and love to have other options to include purchasing a new one😘 I found this pic in Arhaus for the colors

@helen Your chandelier! I remember when you posted about it - such a gorgeous thing. Your cabinets are stunning - Arts & Crafts touch & I love the Fiesta Ware. I’m trying to ID the pieces on the cabinet counter - looks like art pottery - Hull / Weller /Roseville? Do you have more around your home? I would definitely use what looks like a tea set on the counter, placed on a tray or some other pieces of the pottery in an arrangement on a pretty tray as a centerpiece. That would complement all those pieces of Fiesta & others & be a no fuss arrangement . Maybe use a black tray to tie in with art & lampshades.
