how long do chile plants last?
Comments (1)I have had pepper and chile plants for three or four years as well, but it seems that the quality and size of the fruit goes down with each growing season. I would leave it there, but plant a new one (in a different location because that one has probably been robbed of nutrients by now). Perhaps, if yours isn't a hybrid variety you could just keep a few seeds from the chiles you picked. They are quite easy to grow from seed. :) Trish...See MoreHow long do you keep a sofa?
Comments (1)I think the average sofa is expected to last 7-10 years... in the same sense that a car is meant to last 3-5. After that they start to show wear and tear. Of course if you keep your car in the garage and don't use it, it will look like new forever, the same is true of upholstery. Our living room sofa is about 12 years old and could go on a showroom floor today...but, we only use it about 6 times a year. Our family room sofa is from Classic Leather and is about 18 years old. We recently changed the seat cushions (Classic Leather found a very close match for the discontinued leather) and it sits like new. $750 was a mid-range sofa in 1990. That sofa would probably be 1,099 or more today. If the spring system is intact, you could try replacing the seat cushion cores (available from any local upholsterer). After 18 years, I'd feel that I got more than my money's worth and start shopping for a new sofa....See MoreHow long would you expect a vinyl replacement window to last?
Comments (3)We still have most of our original 1918 wood framed windows....so I'd say that if properly maintained, windows can last at least 90 years. I don't ever expect to replace these windows in our lifetime (we're late 40's). We also have new Marvin wood framed and I expect them to last at least until we both croak. They replaced vinyl which looked awful, horrible, terrible on our home. Everything that you have said about vinyl windows and a max of 10 year life is THE reason we didn't buy vinyl....See MoreHow long do Parsnip seeds last?
Comments (3)yeah even 2 years old is stretching it with parsnips. best parsnip seed is less than one year in storage. parsnips, onions, and many fruit producing plants and trees are all very short lived, and lose a lot of viability within the first 1-2 years. maters, peppers, grains, brassicas, squash, etc...i would say these can be stored for 5 years or longer and still be viable. you are of course still free to give it a shot with low expectations. you will still get a few to pop, so if you have a lot of old seed, some will sprout. the issue is the germination rate goes so far down they are no longer reliable, especially in small quantities....See MoreNothing Left to Say
