Boy, when they sleep they really sleep.
Comments (12)I had no idea this one was soooooo sloooooow starting off. I have a good idea even though it is early in the season that this will probably be my success of the seasona and I did take a picture. That is okay. I had a volunteer painted lady runner bean come up this year so I'll have something to fill in the space again. My jackamanii is a root monster. I plant about 3 feet away from it and still run into roots. This one I've dug right around it and the roots are still very small. I guess I can't complaint though as this is only it's second spring and it sounds like I've got about as much growth as you do but only this one single bloom....See Morequestion for those with children sleeping on a different level
Comments (19)thanks carol, just to clarify we have 3 kids. current ages 12, 12, and 6. they would be 13, 13, and 7 by the time the house is completed. One of the 13yr olds has special needs and must sleep in a room near us....so his room will be what doubles as a den for resale purposes. it won't have its own bathroom. The other two children have the option of sleeping upstairs in 2 bedrooms over the garage (bonus space) or 2 bedrooms in the walkout basement. Those bedrooms will likely be more spacious because there will be lots of square footage downstairs- 2300 available, we may finish something like 1600-1800 of it. In my mind the upstairs rooms will serve as guest rooms with separate zoning so if not used can be shut off. Also with the space downstairs (basement i mean) I'm planning on second laundry area which will be convenient. We love basements, and we live in our basements. With southern and western exposures the basement will feel just like a regular floor with plenty of light if we put the bedrooms in the right spots. In addition to 2 bedrooms down there, we plan on a second family room (a sort of media room), a bar area with kitchenette, and a play room for my special needs kiddo's sensory things. And I'm hoping to squeeze in a small exercise room and laundry closet so i don't have to carry their laundry up and down. Of course a full bath, maybe a second half bath depending on how the cost all plays out. It may not be necessary....See MoreTo sleep or not to sleep !
Comments (4)I can totally sympathize and I used to fret over how much sleep I was getting (or not getting) all the time. I was always waking up in the pre-dawn hours and it really bothered me I couldn't sleep through the night. But then last year, I decided to give it up and let my body settle into whatever sleep pattern I felt comfortable with. So I'm a total night-owl now and I rarely go to bed until well after midnight, usually between 1-2AM. That 'eight hours of sleep' thing is drilled into our heads all our lives, but everybody knows you don't need as much sleep as we age. I'm quite comfortable with 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night and can function just fine all day without feeling sleepy. The extra hours late at night are my quiet time and I spend it reading, working on craft projects, watching chick flicks, etc. It takes a while to adjust to a different schedule of sleep, but not fighting it made all the difference and I'm not staring at a dark ceiling at 3:00am anymore!...See MoreQuestion: Overnight Sleeping/Bed Issue
Comments (8)It might work better if she doesn't need permission. I have one dog who wanted to sleep on the bed from the time we got her but I wouldn't allow it and would put her back in her own bed and she got used to that. But over time she would sneak up there during the night at times (usually only if it was cold) so I would let her stay up there because I knew she just wanted a bit of body warmth. She has to go to sleep in her own bed and if she gets up on our bed during the night that's ok, and most of the time we don't realise she's in bed with us until the morning but it's not even a nightly thing. I just think if you're going to let her up there during the night then just let her do it without permission because she has to wake you up for that, but just make her go to her own bed at the beginning of the night until you fall asleep....See More- 9 years ago
